Episode 12

Last episode.  Light on service.  Felt more like an epilogue than a conclusion.  But good to see what happened with all the main characters….

Mako is stunning as a model.  She’s also a lot stronger than she used to be…

Both Hanabi and Ecchan are in a better place now.  But good that they got to sow those wild yuri oats while they still could…

Still can’t believe that Queen NTR Bitch, Akane, is the only girl who wound up with a guy at the end.  And she marries him!  But to  her credit, she did change…

Thoughts

So not only did the Kuzu no Honkai train avoid a massive trainwreck that looked all but imminent, it managed to pull into the Happy End stop in the last episode.  Who would have thunk that was even possible just a few episodes ago…

So the guy who lives his life with his dick, Mugi, winds up with no girl at all.  I’m thinking there’s some sort of poetic justice in that…

Shame  that Hanabi didn’t wind up with a guy she loves at the end but she will when she’s ready…

Ironic that the only girl that winds up with a guy at the end is Queen NTR bitch, Akane.  Never would have expected that.  But all the girls are better off for the experience.

The biggest loser was the playboy Mugi.

The biggest winner of all just might be Moka,  Not only is she growing up looking like a gorgeous model, she’ll have men swooning over her right and left.  Mugi was such a fool…

Top notch character development in the end.  Good to see…

The writing in this episode continues to be very good as for most of the episodes.  Overall, the writing and directing for Kuzu no Honkai were top notch.  Pretty rare in this day and age.

To be honest, I’m still not convinced that Akane is marriage material.  Even if she met the one guy who loves her the way she is and is ok with her being a cuckold.  Even if they tried hard to humanize her.  Just not enough character development.  Just not enough time. Just hard believing a Queen NTR Bitch can change that much that fast.  But it sure does make things interesting.   I liked Akane’s brutal honesty in her dialogue.  That much was refreshing…

Shame that the fanservice scenes weren’t a bit more ecchi.

I’ve seen Kuzu no Honkai called a soap opera more than a few times.  That seems apt.  Messed up characters in messed up situations.  And the characters are pretty promiscuous too…

What’s interesting is how Kuzu no Honkai used sex scenes to tell part of the story and the character motivations.  That’s an adult way of story telling.  Nicely played.  Nice writing.

The writing is so good and keeps me watching even when I’m not crazy about what is happening on screen.

Compelling stuff.  Compelling characters, story and directing. Hard not to keep watching to see what happens…

What a tangled web Kuzu no Honkai weaves.  It’s a love polygon.  Of unrequited love.  Every which direction.  Every which way…

Production values are high.  Nicely so.  Nice artwork, writing and direction.  Nothing comes across as too generic, especially the characters.  Multi-layered.  Complex.  With both positive and negative emotions.  Some nice dialogue too.  (Which is not included since I am using Leopard Raws for my reviews.)

Horny teenagers.  Full of hormones.  Who don’t like themselves very much.  And pine for a love that they can never have.  Yet are intelligent and thoughtful.  Even if they can’t control how they feel and act.

Definitely not an anime for everyone.  Especially if you don’t like angst and drama with your ecchi.  But if you’re an ecchi fan and you want to see see a little more “action” than most anime shows that aired during Winter 2017, you might want to check Kuzu no Honkai out.
