There’s a lot more service in episode two- we even get an openly shown blank boob. Of course, given the history of Project No.9, I’m not sure this is a good thing.
It turns out the ending credits from the first episode were actually the opening credits. Here are the screencaps from the actual ending sequence:
This episode had quite a bit more service than the first. Like the first episode, we get a sexy transformation scene and the post-battle semi-naked aftermath. Additionally, there was a nifty scene where one of the Oni uses his power of illusion magic to melt all the girls’ clothes away with clear slime. In the hands of so many other production companies this would have been guaranteed nudity, but not in this case. Still, it was mildly sexy and kind of fun.
The appropriately named Onihime appears in this episode and provides no shortage of fanservice shots. Her battle with Momoko resulted in a lot of clothing being destroyed, and at one point Onihime goes completely topless. We get an uncensored look at her left boob during this time, but of course there is no nipple and no censorship.
In recent times blank boobs have often added nipples on blu-ray, but you might recall that ImoCho openly showed blank boobs during its TV run and did not add nipples on BD. My guess is that we won’t get a nipple here either. Not just because of Project No.9’s track record, but also because the vibe of this show is so cute and innocent, I just think explicit nudity would clash too much.
Even knowing that nudity is very unlikely, I will admit to enjoying this show. I LOVE the art style and while the plot is generic, the pacing feels just right and personally I haven’t yet felt bored (I bore easily). I also appreciate the simplistic “old school” kind of feel this show has. Sometimes a “simple” anime can still be good if it is well executed.
