Though a big step down from the previous entries in the series, Queen’s Blade – Rebellion does introduce a ton of new characters while providing the usual quota of spank material.

With the main story of the first Queen’s Blade series completed after season 2, Queen’s Blade Rebellion takes place some time afterwards, though clearly not too long after given that several characters from the original return and hardly look a day older than they did in the original series.
You’d be forgiven for not recognizing Elina, Leina, and Claudette as their character designs are radically different here. The biggest shock is Aldra, who went from Dance in the Vampire Bund styled transforming loli into total girl next door super babe.
Melona also makes a brief, surprise appearance, and the series hints at the arrival of the Swamp Witch, who until now had only been seen via a fiery visage. Her arrival in the series and inevitable nude appearances are something I am very much looking forward to (she’s smokin’ hot).
As far as the anime itself, it was a far cry from the previous installments in every way. The art was below average. The coloring felt lacking in vibrance. The action was decent but not as good as before. The fanservice was slightly less frequent and commonly shown at long distance, drawn by inbetweeners (animators with far less artistic talent than the director).
As a whole, the cast was less attractive than the previous group, with a few exceptions (Aldra, Shigi, Izumi, Liliana, Laila). Branwen had so much potential, but never shows us the goods in the TV series and only barely does so in her BD special. I do love the idea of the Branwen character though, as well as her assface goblin master.
Overall, this still made for a pretty good video, despite those flaws. This is Queen’s Blade, after all.
I desperately hope this isn’t the last of Queen’s Blade on TV, because some of the new characters would look super hot with ARMS previous production values. Not only that, but all the hottest newcomers from this series had nowhere near enough nudity. You never want to end things with a feeling of wanting more.
Both of those issues need to be corrected if the Queen’s Blade Rebellion story continues with a follow up TV series, whether it’s a Vanquished Queens TV series or something else. Queen’s Blade is already one of the longest running ecchi anime, hopefully they can give us at least one more season because I would hate for it to end feeling that there is still so much more the show could have done.
