Shimoneta – Episode 6 Fanservice Review

Anna continues to show off her nymph side with her overly risque displays of “love”!

Shimoneta sure loves to push their own boundaries to the limit and they are showing it this episode. With the production of home made sex  toys and the never ending quest of Anna’s for Okuma’s love juice, its hard to know where this anime will go.

So if you didn’t know, Shimoneta got in a little bit of heat with the Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization (BPO) of Japan. If you want to read the full details about it then you can read the article over at ANN, but the gist of it is this: some parents complained about Shimoneta’s content which consisted of naughty words and the tip of a character’s thumb being placed between their index and middle fingers. OK, I have a few qualms with this.

Shimoneta is basically a jab at groups like these that censor too many things. Its entire premise is based on “A Japan without lewd and illicit things”, a world that organisations like the BPO seem to want. The fact that they missed the sheer irony of what they are doing being that they are reporting their complaints against Shimoneta is hilarious to borderline annoying. Irony is easily lost on the target audience and that is very apparent right there. It practically proves the entire point behind Shimoneta and only gives it leeway.

I’m worried about the parents that are complaining. Shimoneta is a late night anime, its airs on Tokyo-MX at 1:30 in the morning. Surly you should be telling your kids to go to sleep at that late at night rather than letting them stay up and have them fall asleep during school hours and be complaining to “the man”!? All it is is bad parents telling themselves that they are good parents for publicly complaining about such a thing. Also, Shimoneta is an adult anime. If you can’t be bothered looking at what your kids are watching and telling them what they should and should not watch, then surly the problem is with the parent and not the content providers. The makers of Shimoneta are making an anime for a certain audience. Its not their fault that people outside of that audience are watching it. This entire shit show just blows my mind.

Other than that, it was a good episode this week, can’t wait for next week!
