Where to begin?

The sheer number of ass and cleavage shots has now clearly risen to the level of a pure ecchi series like Maken Ki!  or Ikkitousen .  A few yuri scenes were added for good measure, as well as a group shower scene.  Both of them hint at redraw potential.

But just in case none of that was obvious enough, Sunrise added the first censorship of the series during a girl-girl sexual assault where Angelise has her breasts exposed on two occasions.  Sunrise does not have a history of false positive censorship, and they’ve shown willingness to go for nudity in their mecha anime before.  So I’d say these a very high probability this censorship is legit.

Cross Ange might be the most pure ecchi series of the season.  I can’t say I expected that given Sunrise’s history of avoiding these pure ecchi kind of anime.

As far as the anime itself, it has issues.  So don’t confuse what I’m about to say as being some kind of endorsement.

Despite being deeply flawed and probably one of the worst series of the season, I have to admit there is something really neat about the novelty factor of this anime.  It’s as if they wanted to make a Strike Witches  type of anime but make it dark and plot driven.  I can’t really say I’ve ever seen anything quite like this anime before.
