Lots of new characters introduced in this episode, including Rias’ super-busty Mom.

It didn’t make the video, but it was weird seeing Koneko with cat ears. I guess it just never occurred to me that she’s an ACTUAL cat-girl.
Rias continues to display a moodier personality this season. I liked her more when she was more emotionally secure and mysterious, but I’m sure it’s just a phase for her character and will eventually pass.
This episode almost had a One Piece kind of feel in that they are introducing a bunch of characters that you just kind of know will be fighting each other and/or Issei later in the anime.
This episode also served as the introduction for Koneko’s seemingly evil sister Kuroka, and also the impossibly cute Ravel Phenex, the younger sister of season one’s main villain, Riser Phenex. Even as she’s meeting Issei for the first time, it’s clear she’s got a crush.
It’s always fun hearing Rikiya Koyama (Azazel) who is so good at playing anti-hero types, and Sho Hayami (Sirzechs Lucifer), who is famous for playing the silky smooth gentleman sociopath to perfection. Factoring in Shizuka Ito and Yoko Hikasa, who are also terrific talents, you really have to hand it to TNK for doing some A+ casting.
