After blowing us all away with their first nude fanservice offering (Kanokon) in 2008, Xebec had established high expectations among the ecchi fanbase. I wasn’t an ecchi fan, or even a “nudity in anime” fan back at the start of 2010. I simply didn’t understand the massive buzz around the anime blogosphere for Ladies versus Butlers at the time. But nearly four depravity twisted years later, it all makes sense. Boy does it ever.
While Kanokon never got a second season despite the apparent success of the anime, I think that probably had more to do with Xebec’s desire to branch out into new series (with the exception of To Love-Ru, which is a sales gold mine). I think in a lot of ways, Ladies versus Butlers was the sequel to Kanokon we never received. Same production concept (take nearly non-nude source material featuring chubby girls and turn it into softcore porn). Same director and art style. Same concepts about what fanservice BD specials should be like (unabashed fap material).
I think I’d still rate Kanokon a little better, just because there were 12, (twelve!) nude specials that came with those blu-ray releases. But Ladies versus Butlers does have some advantages. Far better animation for starters, far more nudity in the series itself, and some maneuvers in the specials that were pretty damn risqué (nipple spreading, fully nude doggy style poses, etc). Hell, the more I think about it, the less sure I am of Kanokon being any better.
At the very least, Ladies versus Butlers was worthy of its horndog hype, and takes its place among the best fanservice anime of all time. Whether it’s better than Kanokon or not isn’t what’s important. That it’s in the discussion speaks volumes.
So anyway, here you go. If there was any anime that made me want to dress up like Liam Neeson Zeus and scream “UNLEASH THE KRAKEN”, it would be for this show. What an insane fapfest this video turned out to be.
I know that 30 years from now, I will have very little left around from the year 2013. But I guarantee you I will still have this FC on my hard drive somewhere. It might be under lock and key to hide from a wife, kids, and maybe grandkids. I don’t care. It ain’t goin’ anywhere. It’s videos like this that make all the effort a million percent worth it.
