To Love-Ru Darkness OVA Five announced

Figured I’d mention this, just in case any of you hadn’t heard.

The August issue of Shueisha‘s Jump Square  magazine broke the news yesterday, which you can read about here.

The release date is set for December 4th.  This comes exactly one year to the day after OVA Four was released, which hit stores as part of a manga bundle on December 4th, 2013.

As usual, the fifth OVA will be bundled with a To Love-Ru Darkness tankobon (volume 12).  It will be made by the usual production staff and seiyuu, and it will use the usual “three mini-episodes in twenty-five minutes” format seen in all the previous Darkness OVA episodes.  Per ANN, at least one of these mini-episodes will prominently feature Yui Kotegawa.  I’m not really sure why they went out of their way to report that, other than the fact that she’s super hot, of course.

A new To Love-Ru season has yet to be announced but given the very strong sales and merchandizing of this franchise another season is all but guaranteed.  As it should be, To Love-Ru Darkness is pretty much universally accepted as being fucking amazing for fanservice.

To Love-Ru Darkness aired just six weeks after the first corresponding OVA.  Motto To Love-Ru  aired five months after the conclusion of the original To Love-Ru  post-series OVA episodes.  It’s clear that Xebec likes using OVA episodes to tide us over until a new season comes, though it’s still unclear how close we are to another full length series.  That said, it’s been almost two years now since Darkness began airing.  Perhaps we’ll hear an announcement some time in the near future?
