I liked this series (it got me to crack up a few times), and I liked the video that came from it. I always hate it when you see an anime adaptation of an X-rated H-game that doesn’t even show nipples on BD. Majikoi was not one such series, so credit to them for not screwing up the most important detail.

Thoughts on the anime
To me, most nude ecchi is basically softcore porn that is merely posing as anime. Sometimes nude ecchi can be funny (Golden Boy, Haganai). Sometimes it might contain decent action sequences (Queen’s Blade, Seikon no Qwaser, Manyuu Hikenchou). It can even tug the heartstrings in rare cases (Shuffle, Haganai). Sometimes they can actually be good shows that receive guarded applause from the mainstream anime fanbase. But I think in many cases these shows are meant to be fapped to, and everything else is window dressing. Even though I liked Majikoi, I feel it could be labeled as one such show.
I could seriously care less if an ecchi series fails to be interesting, funny, or poignant- provided that the series delivers where it counts- by delivering magnificent oppai. Majikoi does just that, but in between all those steamy baths and cliched naked comedy scenes, the show actually gives us a fun little story with fun characters. Considering that the source material for this anime is very much an X-rated visual novel, I have to admit that Majikoi shaped up to be a much more entertaining anime than I expected going in.
The budget to this show was definitely on the low side, but that was pretty much the norm back in 2011, which was absolutely loaded with low budget nude ecchi series. While high budget offerings are always better, I would gladly take two low budget ecchi series over one high budget one. The more boobs, the better.
My only disappointment with this series was that it didn’t include fanservice specials (the BDs instead came with a dramatic audio book type thing) and they didn’t even bother with a 13th episode (OVA) like most series do. Again, this was probably in anticipation of low sales and anything to avoid taking a financial loss is cool with me. Though any time you see a show like this without an OVA and specials, it feels like such a wasted opportunity from a fan’s perspective.
Majikoi was the first TV series made by Lerche. I always love it when a company breaks into the production business with nude ecchi. They’ve only made two other TV anime since, Danganronpa The Animation and Unbreakable Machine Doll, both from this year.

Pretty much a straightforward edit with this one. I spliced together all the EDs into one video at the end using split-screens.

Favorite Character
Momoyo (she’s the girl in the picture at the top). She’s pretty good in this, though I thought she was a goddess in the visual novel.
