This has been mentioned in the comments, but figured it was front page worthy for those who missed it.
As the eagle eyed Max Power pointed out a few days back, the recent promo (seen above) for the Playstation game Senran Kagura: Estival Versus did something nobody in the world ever expected. At the 0:07 mark-
And again at the 0:11 mark-
This is a huge surprise for so many reasons.
First, Senran Kagura is one of the best known non-nude ecchi anime in existence. This series had built its entire brand on the concept of “tasteful” eroticism. Senran Kagura has produced several games, a well known TV anime, and more than a half-dozen manga titles. ALL of which combined for a grand total of zero nipple sightings. Until now.
Secondly, this happened in an advertisement.
Third, this happened in an advertisement for a Japanese Playstation game. (!) While nudity has found its way into certain console games in the West , nudity is rare in console games from Japan, a country that generally confines such things to eroge.
For those that didn’t watch the video, most of it is game footage, only the first few seconds are anime. Is the anime portion an exclusive cutscene from the game? Or is it a snippet from Senran Kagura: Estival Versus – Eve Full of Swimsuits , the upcoming tie-in OVA?
That would certainly be great news if it were taken from the OVA, which airs on AT-X on March 29th and hits stores in blu-ray form on April 24th.
