The following preamble exists on the first post I made of this kind about a year ago. I will probably post the same thing for the first post each season, relenting for the remaining posts of the season. That said:
There are many anime that come out each season, so much that unless you’re an absolute fanatic with a lot of free time you probably aren’t going to watch them all. And although the days of bountiful ecchi appear to be behind us, many series still are not shy to blatant fanservice shots (though much more subdued). Making things more confusing is some dedicated ecchi series failing to deliver, or production standards being subpar, while other series that are not dedicated to fanservice giving more attention and detail to fanservice than anyone could have possibly anticipated. Naturally, some things will slip through the cracks and not make it onto the site for whatever reason.
The Ecchi Miscellanea series aims to correct this: to cover series that were not picked up for a full review, usually because they were perceived as not having enough fanservice to justify one. Mini reviews, essentially. I hope that this will be an acceptable alternative to full reviews.
There were a few ecchi standouts for the Summer. Maybe some or all of them will be picked up by another writer. Obviously, I will not be covering those in this series.
Busamen Gachi Fighter 01 & 02
An isekai featuring an ugly fat man – not an uncommon sight these days. Fortunately, the girls here are neither fat nor ugly. Protagonist Shigeru is a recluse that gets the opportunity to isekai himself. In the process he sacrifices his looks to become grossly overpowered. We may have gone full circle at this point. No longer is it satiating for some to fantasize or self insert as a strong, good looking protagonist winning the heart’s of innocent young maidens. Anyway, here’s some cute girls. I do my very best to avoid including other males in these shots as best I can, but I get the impression that part of the “humor” of the series is going to include the ugly fat man in as many shots as possible, possibly in the same frame of the girls. Understand that I have no choice sometimes but to include the shots that unfortunately include both.
Futari Solo Camp 01
“Solo camping for two.” You’d want some company in the form of a hot young redhead too if you were an oji-san. I haven’t skimmed the manga to see if this is a production we might expect an occasional scrap of fanservice, as all too often some manga will have much more frequent fanservice in the first few volumes or even chapters before tapering off. Of course, the reverse can happen as well. Regardless, I won’t expect anything too intense from this. Definitely one for the relatively niche interest of camping, or maybe it isn’t niche? It’s not a bad idea to throw this one out to a production company after the success of Yuzu Camp.
Grand Blue 01
Season two is here after seven years. I recall when season one was released, it being touted as equal opportunity fanservice. As I said previously, I do my best to exclude males as often as I can. The physique of the males in this not being rotund does not matter. At least we can expect some good stuff from the ladies here.
Ruri no Houseki 01
A series about a girl that likes jewelry and the minerals that are mounted on them. Why the long, black haired lady needed to have an ass as large as she was given is not explored. Of course, this just brings more eyes to the production. Most people will probably be just as drawn to the great animation.
Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! 01
Yuri. If you aren’t a fan, stay away. I won’t look too much into this one as I am not a yuri fan myself, but I can call a spade a spade and admit that a girl looks good in all but the most extreme of circumstances.
Kizetsu Yuusha to Ansatsu Hime 01
This one is definitely a fun watch. A guy gets a harem with enough of a twist that may maintain viewer interest. Should that fail, the heroine’s giant tits should do the trick. I can’t imagine with a first episode like this that we won’t get a lot more, but with an experience equivalent to a xanax induced fever dream, who knows what we’re in for.
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru 01
The gyaru herself returns, to grace us all with her wonderful curves. I imagine we’re in for more of what we got in season 1, which is a good thing. I am an optimistic guy, so I’d always hoped that whoever is in charge had the mix of testicular fortitude and enough kindness to deliver us the Marin nipple as seen in Chapter 75 (? I can’t recall the exact chapter) I don’t expect it to happen, but a guy can hope. On the incredibly unlikely chance we did get a Marin nipple in the anime, it’d be momentous occasion – a splash as big as Asuna’s nipple sighting in that one SAO movie many years back. At least we know there’s no need to hope to see Marin’s assets in full view like we had so many times in season 1.
I expect to have another one of these out in another 3-4 weeks.
