The good news is that if you have to have nudity for Gate, you can get it. Just not from the anime. At least not so far. For that you’ll need to check out the manga and/or Satoru SAO’s original artwork. And fanart, of course. But ironically, the anime does have small bits of fanservice that weren’t in the manga.
Manga

Official Art
For nudity in artwork from the official artist of the manga, Satoru SAO, you can check out his official gallery and his pixiv gallery. The galleries do include artwork from his other series but there is a good amount of artwork with characters from Gate.

Anime
Now on to the anime itself. Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri is an anime that started this season and is scheduled to run for 24 episodes. It is based on a series of Japanese novels with the same name. The novels have had a number of adaptations and spin-offs including light novels, manga and now an anime. The manga is called Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri and is up to seven volumes and still ongoing.
Both the novels and light novels are light in fanservice and won’t be discussed here. However the manga is not only heavy in fanservice, it can be a bit extreme at times.
Both the manga and anime portray what might happen if a modern society with a modern military collides with an ancient medieval society in a fantasy setting with a medieval army. With an added bonus of an assortment of demi-human girls!
The thing is that the manga can be barbaric, intentionally so, but the anime is much tamer including no nudity. That is to say the manga can be extreme but the anime seems to be trying to be mainstream. At least so far.
Episode 01
Episode 01 is mostly setup on the Japan side of the Gate with very brief introductions to the soldier girls and the fantasy girls mostly via the OP/ED.
Unfortunately, the OP/ED also starts what becomes a common trend of the goth loli, Rory Mercury, going wild without showing much in the way of fanservice. A goth loli with zettai ryouiki is always nice but more fanservice would be even nicer.
Episode 02
Episode 02 is again mostly setup but more so on the fantasy side of the Gate.
Who knew soldier girls could be so cute?
Princesses are cute too. But this one, Pina Co Lada, is a bit on the stern side too. Have to like her cleavage exposing outfit though.
Episode 03 is where the plot starts to thicken in the way of action/adventure but not before introducing the rest of the main cast of fantasy girls.
First new fantasy girl is the human mage girl, Lelei la Lelena, who is the youngest of the main group. She’s also the brainiest of the fantasy girls. Very sharp.
Interestingly enough, I don’t recall ever seeing Lelei with full nudity even in the manga or official artwork.
Tuka has joined the main group although she doesn’t know it yet since she’s still unconscious.
Rory joins the main group. Now who wouldn’t stop in the middle of the road and give this goth loli a lift?
The team gets attacked by a fire dragon and Tuka wakes up just in time to help win the fight. Naked elf girl trumps an angry dragon every time! Incidentally, the dragon fight scene is pretty well animated.
Shame to see the blurring here but that might mean there’s at least a chance for nudity on the BD.
Interestingly enough, there was no fanservice for this scene in the manga.
Then Rory joins the fight against the fire dragon and goes wild with acrobatic moves. Seems like there should be a lot more fanservice though.
Wait. What’s that pink smudge? Could it be Rory’s panties??? Pink matches the color of her panties in the promo poster. Too blurry to tell for sure but there’s a chance!
Episode 04
After a long hard fought battle, nothing beats a long hot soak in a public bath. Nothing.
Closest thing to nudity so far is Tuka outside of the bath. Naked elf girls are great. But will they show more on BD?
Princess Pina’s outfit is fetching. Even when she’s visiting a medieval hospital.
Who knew a t-shirt would look so good on a elf girl? Just needs water!
Episode 05
Time for another battle. This time for the town of Italica. With Princess Pina on the scene.
So the princess and her Rose Knights wear black shorts under their short skirts. Hmm…
Medieval undergarments for princesses are pretty conservative even when doused with water.
Princess cleavage is good. Even when the town of Italica is burning…
Always keep an eye on Rory. Always.

Episode 06
Episode 06 wraps up the battle for Italica but not without some unexpected and some unusual fanservice.
Rory runs like the wind. Much too fast for mere mortals to see her panties…
Rory is a master at not showing panties during aerial acrobatics.. She has reached a divine state of enlightenment… Rory IS a demi-goddess after all.
But. But. let’s rewind just a little bit, shall we? What do we see? Zoom in just a bit. Wait. Those are Rory’s panties! And they are pink just like in the promo poster. Rory’s panties have been officially sighted. And by mere mortals too. Thanks to modern technology and all. Otherwise, Rory would be way too fast for mere mortals to see her panties….

I’ll be honest, this promo poster at first made me hopeful that there would be casual fanservice in the anime even if only on BD. Now I’m not so sure.

Overall
Overall, Gate is a well-made anime with a fun set of anime girls (with both human and fantasy girls). Who look like a harem but don’t act like a harem. More like guild mates on an series of adventures. There are some quality issues, especially in long distance scenes. And military imperialism is not for everyone. But Gate is a fun show to watch each and every week. At least so far. I’m not a huge fan of loli’s but I do like the goth loli in this anime, Rory Mercury, a lot. She has personality in spades.
The thing is that the manga and official art from the manga artist has so much more in the way of nudity and fanservice. The anime really could use more. But ironically enough, the anime while leaving out a lot of the original fanservice has added fanservice that is not in the manga. Just in small and measured doses. On the other hand, a goth loli having orgasms in the middle of a battle is not something you see every day.
So will there be nudity on the BD? After all, A-1 Pictures added nudity to both Vividred Operation and Magi for the BD. I’ll be honest, my gut feel says probably not. I could be wrong but the odds seem really low. I could see adding additional casual fanservice (like in the promo art poster) on the BD and in future episodes but not the nudity from the manga.
Firstly, a lot of the nudity in the manga is on the extreme and/or politically incorrect side of things and will probably be left out on TV and on BD. Furthermore, the anime is an adaptation of the novels not the manga.
Secondly, they seem to be trying to make a mainstream anime instead of a niche anime and so far it seems to be working. Gate seems to be popular with the mainstream crowd. A lot of the times, trying to mainstream niche source material often doesn’t work out well but the manga seems rich enough and diverse enough to work as a mainstream anime.
Thirdly, the anime staff seems to be trying to add bits of service that are original to the anime and aren’t in the novels or the manga So the anime does have fanservice. Just not in the same quantity or quality as the manga. The anime is an adaptation of the novels and can’t be and shouldn’t be expected to be identical to the manga.
So sadly, for us anime fans, the odds for nudity on BD seem low. There’s always hope though. The good news is there are already at least a couple of scenes where they could add nudity if they wanted to. Fortunately there is the manga, official art from the manga artist and fan art in case things don’t work out.
Notes
I’m a lot more optimistic about future casual fanservice now that sighting of Rory’s panties has been confirmed.
However, I am more pessimistic about nudity in the future since it turns out that Gate anime is an adaptation of the novel instead of the manga. (Tip of the cap to MajesticKuma for his tip in the comments.)
