Haite Kudasai, Takamine-san Episode’s 04 & 05 Fanservice Review

Frankenstein

The order of events the anime is taking compared to the manga is completely chaotic, not unlike many other productions but this one might be going a bit farther than most. Take one bit from several chapters ahead, put it first. Go back a few chapters from that, take something from there and put it after. That’s generally what’s happening. If you find yourself agreeing with this methodology, I’d recommend you apply to become a member of the studio that handled this production.

Episode 04:

We head back to Chapter 4 to show Takamine beating the swimming club’s best swimmer. This wasn’t enough, so she resets and beats him harder. This isn’t all, as she draws attention to the fact that her right nipple is now visible through her swimsuit because of the now lack of underwear (or pasties in this case). There were some pretty crude looking stills of Takamine in this sequence, maybe something to keep track of in the BD release.

Shirota gets brought along to go underwear shopping with Takamine. When prompted to pick a pair for her, he imagines Takamine wearing several different pair that reflect her personality.

Takamine’s teasing goes a bit farther than normal, and when she essentially backs her (dark tights wearing) ass up into his face, Shirota faints. Shortly after, Takamine asks why Shirota picked blue, and he has some absurd poetic reason and even gives some half baked Shakespearean soliloquy, but points to him because it seems to work in his favor.

Shirota later gets sick, and Takamine decides to help him out. Of course, under the guise of maintaining her closet, definitely not because she cares.

Shirota asks why Takamine is going this far for him, but before he can get an answer, he’s fast asleep, face buried in the bosom of Takamine. She later remarks to herself (and cat) on the foolishness of the question, saying she wouldn’t bother going that far for someone she doesn’t care about.

Episode 05:

An episode light(er) on the service, but monumental in the two’s relationship.

Shirota makes an off-hand remark on the number of times Takamine uses her ability (on an intense day). He also realizes Takamine is acting unusually, holding back on using her power when normally she would, and generally acting lethargic. She has a cold, but Shirota surmises she held back on her power to help Shirota focus on his studies, something that was mentioned at the start of the episode. There’s a bit of a disagreement going on here as well – Shirota urges Takamine to return to using her power freely, but Takamine’s pride rebukes him, claiming that it’s not by his urging she’d used it. Because she thinks things are fine, that’s the reason she’s not using it. She does add that if Shirota believes otherwise, he should be the one taking her underwear off, which he surprisingly, does do. Her power is triggered, but no apparent effect is taken. Takamine informs him that she didn’t undo the events of the day, she undid the relinquishing of the decision to allow him to make the decision.

Takamine helps Shirota with his schoolwork. Each time he screws up, she uses her power. At some point, she mentions her parents are out, which gives Shirota certain ideas. Takamine picks up on this and later (jokingly) accuses him of going slowly so he can ask to sleep over so he can “take his shot.” Takamine does say that they aren’t alone, mentioning a pet (grouping Shirota in with it, her own cat). Shirota asks to see it thinking it will calm him down, but when it turns out the cat’s out at the moment, she dresses up like one.

Shirota ends up staying at Takamine’s house anyway, due to a storm. Under the guise of wanting to know more about him, and claiming to not know much about him despite having gone to the same middle school and high school, she tries to see if he remembers something particular about his past, which turns out to be mutual. Takamine and Shirota knew each other for a brief time when they were much younger, and Takamine even confessed to him, but Shirota couldn’t answer and ended up never learning much more about her.

Takamine seems to also be afraid of lightning and the thunder that follows. This heartfelt situation will certainly turn out to be the catalyst to their inevitable union. Of course, it’ll be a while before we get there. This brings us to the end of Chapter 12, but I’m sure there will be more scenes taken from previous chapters that have not yet been depicted.

For the members of the audience that would have liked to see the Pink Pineapple continuation of this ending, the only thing I can do is direct you to the author’s fanbox. Be wary though, you’ll have to wade through some tags I’ll say only that many have a distaste for before you get to the (relatively) vanilla.
