Another potentially interesting ecchi anime appears on the distant horizon.
The GA Bunko 10th Anniversary Festa event announced on Sunday that Jun Misaki‘s Hundred light novel series is being adapted into anime.

Flipping through the manga and light novel, a rough analogy might be to say Hundred feels a bit like Infinite Stratos but with gratuitous amounts of breast groping. Similar character/costume design, similar themes, similar ecchi levels. Anime News Network refers to the light novel series as “hugely popular”, and indeed it achieves the same type of harmless blandness that Infinite Stratos did, albeit with just a touch of extra ecchiness thrown in.
Hundred is also noteworthy for being illustrated by Nekosuke Ookuma. Ookuma also did the illustrations (but not the writing) for Shinmai Maou no Testament .
Because of the strong ‘mainstream’ vibes of the source material, I would be shocked beyond all belief if Hundred was even a tenth as ecchi as Shinmai no Testament was. That said…
It does, however, capitalize on some of Ookuma’s salacious talents. Boob fondling seems to be a major theme in the original light novel, and the way it is done is reminiscent of the boob grope scenes from Testament (the ones suitable for television).
It’s not easy to get a gauge on the direction the anime will go in, as this is the first work of the original creator, Tetsuto Uesu. There is only one openly shown boob in the light novel (which is of course censored).
The oddly short-lived manga spinoff avoided nudity until the final two chapters, when it finally confirmed the existence of nipples, albeit just barely.
Again, the school-battles, harem setup, and hesitant display of nipples establishes Infinite Stratos as a decent initial expectation for this anime. I can’t pretend to be a huge expert on the novels though, these are really just guesses on my part. If anyone knows the novels well please be sure to chime in.
Much of the voice acting cast has already been announced, not a surprise since the drama CD is set to release very soon. There’s also a promo video for the announcement:
Ultimately, the ecchi level of an anime like this will depend completely on the company that picks it up. The ecchi level is low enough that it could easily be non-nude if a studio like JC Staff, A-1 Pictures or Satelight picks it up. By the same token, there’s a lot to work with here if it went to Silver Link, 8 bit or perhaps Production IMS.
…
In other news, Silver Link green lit an anime adaptation for Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan , also a light novel. As of yet there is no nudity in the novel or manga. In terms of a rough comparison, it borrows elements from stuff like The Sacred Blacksmith , Madan no Ou to Vanadis and Strike the Blood .
The main girl is ultra-hot, but the themes are suitably bland and service seems to be catering to the PG-13 crowd. It is SILVER LINK though, so there is an outside chance the anime goes for some mild nudity a time or two.
Special thanks to Oppai&pantsu for linking these announcements in the comments.
