The world’s holiest fetish
As a man with certain proclivities that will become apparent before the end of this review, I simply had no choice but to follow this series. This would also have been a worthy “main review” series, but I did not know of this series at the time so I went with Cafe.
This cold opening introduces the two main characters – brother and sister Asahi and Maya, as well as a nice but brief action sequence. Three orcs terrorize a village, Asahi arrives to warn them to back off, and when this threat is ignored the titular one turn kill onee-san makes short work of them.
These two stitches are credited to another poster on the site, ScissorMeTimbers. If you don’t know him by name, he’s the guy that does the monthly posters posts. I couldn’t quite get this one right, and it just so turned out that he had done some media for this series when I asked for help. The reason there is two is due to some kind of distortion – not entirely sure. But they’re both there if you want either, or both.
Asahi saved a girl from being hit by a car (but was hit himself in exchange), and upon realizing he’s been isekai’d, seems somewhat thrilled as he compares what he sees of this world to some recent RPG’s. After considering some of the negatives of his situation, he is confident that his knowledge of isekai stories he’s familiar with back in his old world that he can overcome.
Asahi sells his smartphone for some cash which he uses to buy some basic equipment. The next obvious step is to visit the guild and meet the cute receptionist, who recommends a basic quest to start. Unfortunately, Asahi encounters a giant wyvern as he leaves town. Fortunately, the best companion one could ask for is about to arrive.
Another credit to ScissorMeTimbers. There are some stitches that are annoying to make, for varying reasons. His comments on the making of this stitch: “This fluttering skirt stitch was also time consuming. The skirt motion barely repeated while still on screen but for some bizarre reason, when trying to include her legs, the creases would line up but the shadows between the creases would change the more her legs were on screen. So I was only to make one more of less full-length stitch since ms ice kept dropping a frame on me and even then there was some morphing of the chara art (but no breakage hopefully) but that couldn’t be helped.”
I did edit this one, hoping that the crotch area would be less blinding. However, there seems to be little to no form of her lower body drawn in, or at least nothing that I could see even with some extreme editing.
Asahi is clearly no match for the wyvern, and after realizing he is out of options, he does what anyone what do in the same situation, cry out for his beloved sister. Maya makes short work of the wyvern, and embraces Asahi.
Maya explains more of Asahi’s situation and condition. He was comatose and would occasionally mutter something about “other worlds,” so she came up with a theory that Asahi’s spirit somehow wandered into a different world. To follow him, she bashed her head into the wall until she lost consciousness, just for the chance to see her brother again.
Asahi is hurt after a brief scuffle in which Maya ruthlessly dispatches an orc. After seeing a scrape on his face, Asahi says a bit of spit should make it better, but this inspired Maya to use her own.
Asahi gets a handful; sadly, he was unable to grab them in all their glory. I’d have personally asked if I could take my gloves off and touch her through her “armor,” but that’s just me. As for the story, Asahi is mistakenly assumed to be the one who has killed the wyvern and risen the ranks so quickly. The punishment for faking a rank, in a similar manner to what Asahi has done, is severe, but Asahi has never received praise in such a way as how he was received upon returning to the guild, so he asks his beloved sister to play along with the act.
Asahi and Maya both see a party of heroes that is departing to combat the Demon King. Shortly after they leave, the scene of a bitter drunk comes to the forefront, and the difficulty of this new arrangement begins already. The crowd already believes Asahi to be a strong hero, and beg him to deal with the drunk. Maya must covertly deal with him and make it seem like Asahi did it.
Episode 02:
The gap in power between the two is demonstrated at the beginning of the episode, with Asahi barely able to defeat a single slime, and Maya able to obliterate what seems to be hundreds in a single blast. Meanwhile, we cut away to the party of heroes from last episode being effortlessly defeated by a well endowed demon girl, who will come to the forefront of this episode later. There is also a brief scene of Asahi giving Maya his jacket after she seems to catch a sickness.
Asahi decides he can’t rely on Maya forever, and endeavors to take on some quests himself. Maya in the meantime, realizes Asahi has gone and takes the opportunity to wallow in his bed.
Asahi manages to weasel his way into getting an easy quest on the outskirts of town. Despite this, he encounters a bear which would have mauled him had it not been for the timely arrival of the previously seen well endowed demon lady.
The well endowed Demon Lady is named Kilmaria, and her presence in such an innocuous place was a desire to test her strength, but also because she’d heard of an adventurer who’d risen the ranks that could turn out to be a hero worthy of a fight. Kilmaria has been bored after effortlessly winning many battles, and it’s apparent that she the “looking for a worthy opponent” type of character. Asahi fears Kilmaria after she references him by name, and tries to sneak away but drops his guild coin which has his name on it, immediately earning Kilmaria’s aggression.
While the bosom of Kilmaria was certainly comforting, nothing could ever beat the warmth and love of a blood-related sister’s bosom. There is simply no comparison.
Maya arrives and protects Asahi, but first chastises Kilmaria on her outfit, accusing her of wanting to “steal his virtue.” Kilmaria responds by pointing out that Maya’s outfit is similarly exposed. The fight between the two eventually breaks out and Maya is the victor. She is prepared to finish Kilmaria, but Asahi begs Maya to spare her, pointing out that she may not necessarily be a bad person despite their natural opposition.
None of these edits really indicate any kind of special bd release bonus removals. The fog may be removed, but I doubt a comedy series like this would go for any kind of nudity.
There is, however, a tendency to insert extra spice into the anime. The above 4 panels are the entirety of the “bath sequence,” whereas in the anime, you can obviously see how expanded it was.
While this series seems to be a mix of comedy and light isekai adventuring, Maya’s affection clearly goes beyond that of platonic sisterly love, and borders on the incestuous (which is great and I love it). The presence of Kilmaria, who will obviously become a love interest for Asahi, indicates to me that Maya’s love could become the source of some painfully forced drama late in the series, but I could be wrong. I’ll cover the OP and ED in a later review, but the ED in particular is quite dramatic when it comes to Maya’s agony over her brother’s condition, which I would use as supporting evidence for my suspicion, but only time will tell.
