Some ecchi news happened this week.
We learned earlier this year that the ecchi-watersports manga Keijo!!!!!!!! would become an anime. This is noteworthy not only for the extremely ecchi premise of the series, but also because the manga itself has some lengthy nude scenes. Ultimately the quality of the series would depend on the studio producing it.
As it turns out, the studio involved is none other than Xebec. Xebec’s resume (Triage X , Kanokon , Ladies versus Butlers , Softenni , RIN – Daughters of Mnemosyne, Sorcerer Hunters , Upotte!! , Hen Zemi , Blue Seed Beyond , Argevollen , and To Love-Ru ) is longer and more impressive than just about anyone else when it comes to animating uncensored oppai over the past decade, and they always seem to bring quality animation to every one of their projects.
The timing of this announcement is noteworthy since shows generally tend to announce their production info roughly 3-6 months before the show airs. For example, Xebec announced they were animating Triage X in December of 2014, about four and a half months before the first episode aired. More recently, Production IMS announced their involvement in Masou Gakuen HxH about three and a half months before the first episode is scheduled to air.
Xebec hasn’t yet announced which season Keijo!!!!!!!! will air, but a Fall 2016 airing would seem the most likely given the timing of this announcement.
If so, Keijo!!!!!!!! will have some company, as the Fall 2016 season is now assured to have Brave Witches on its roster as was announced earlier this week. Most of the staff from the original Strike Witches series is returning, including the world designer, mecha designer, original character designer, director, and score composer. SILVER LINK. is back to handle animation production. They had previously worked on the Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow OVA series.
Brave Witches is a spinoff series to Strike Witches and takes place in the same universe. Strike Witches told the story of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, Brave Witches tells the story of the 502nd.
