Thoughts on the anime
Sunrise has been around forever and is one of the industry’s most storied anime studios. They have never done a true full-bore ecchi anime (along the lines of Ikkitousen or High School DxD ). Even when adapting some substantially ecchi manga such as Sorcerer Hunters or the suggestive Sgt. Frog , they’ve refrained from nudity.
But, every once in a while Sunrise has proven themselves to be just fine with small doses of nude service when they want to spice up the fanservice just a little extra. The most famous example of this was Code Geass , which was produced by the same people that were responsible for creating Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon .
Geass is of course among the all-time great anime, by comparison Horizon is forgettable. Both enjoyed commercial success. But whereas Geass put most of its focus on a twisting and turning story, Horizon put its focus almost entirely on tits and ass. The emphasis was so over the top that it was hard to tell if the anime intended to parody ecchi genre or celebrate it.
Of course, Horizon is hardly the only series to overload viewers with PG-13 rated service, it’s become extremely common now among mainstream anime. This seems to be the preferable method for a huge chunk of anime fans who are uncomfortable with nudity in anime. What sets Horizon apart though was its willingness to actually show nipples, and quite a few of them, during episode four of season two. The influence of Code Geass likely had an impact on the producers’ willingness to go for nudity.

Thoughts on the fanservice video
Not as sexy as I thought it would be. This was a rare case of the fanservice feeling sexier in the context of the anime.
But I’m sure some will really enjoy it, and the nude scenes are greatly improved with a little bit of filter help too, so I’m glad I made the video for that reason.

Favorite Character
Kimi Aoi in the easy choice. It’s really too bad she couldn’t have joined the girls for that big bathhouse scene.
