Megami no Cafe Terrace Episode 04 Fanservice Review

Shiragiku’s mountaintops

This is an episode with a moment of great service that may just be good enough to salvage the rest. Hayato’s relationship with some of the girl’s is also reinforced, which could lead to some peak moments down the line.

With Hayato’s stocks being tanked, having a slow day is a significantly painful occurrence. Hayato claims to have expected some slow days after the buzz of reopening subsided, but he is secretly worried about what to do. Hayato decides to host a stall at the cherry blossom festival to attract customers, and also begins planning to introduce a new menu.

Shiragiku attempts to create cherry blossom alcohol laced cookies for the festival, perhaps to use as a regular cafe item as well. Given her weakness to alcohol, it is easy to anticipate the gag they’re going for.

Riho’s personality shines a bit here, when she gets annoyed at being brushed off when offering the two help. She is, however, excited when Hayato tells her he can take charge of the cafe when the others are at the festival, and is overjoyed when Hayato compliments her for her knowledge of the cafe.

Shiragiku’s smell fetish kicks in once more during her drunken haze. If you’re confused on how she’s managed to get drunk, Hayato theorizes that the vapors from the cookies (alcohol included) evaporated and got her tipsy.

From what I can tell, this particular shot is an anime original. It’s good to see a show that adds service to anime, but the lingering question is if they will add something else to the anime, an idea they’ve toyed with (and baited) already.

The amount of bloom added to some of these shots can be absolutely blinding. It’s also annoying, so I gave this a quick edit to make it a bit more visible and appealing.

The gag is played through its entirety, similar to episode 1 – Hayato is punished for something he’s not at fault for. Shiragiku’s ass shot earlier in the episode was quite sad, but this one seems decent, if not a bit small.

As Hayato and his crew host the stall, two friends (and peripheral business owners as well) of Hayato’s grandmother greet him warmly, offering more insight into how his grandmother has impacted the lives of those around him.

This bun-shoving-in-the-mouth is anime original as well, from what I can see. I wouldn’t exactly call this a service bonus though, unless you’re into some exotic fetishes.

The drama of the episode begins to unfold as these three blatantly unattractive fellows hit on Ouka, who is obviously repulsed by the advances of the proto-ugly bastards. Hayato steps in (note: he does so only at Ouka’s insistence) and tells the three off, but the three guys push the issue. The two shop owners that talked to Hayato earlier show up to back him up, and the three thugs feel pressured enough to leave.

Hayato and co. return the next day to find their stall completely trashed. The other stall owners offer to help, which they do, but Hayato decides to leave because it’d just cause trouble for the rest. Ouka is feeling dejected after what she did yesterday, having been of little help while dozing off, and attracting the attention of the three ugly bastards. Hayato reassures her despite this, and claims to have come up with a plan to address this issue.

The plan was a mobile food cart, which was highly successful thanks to the efforts of all involved, particulary Riho who promoted their cart on social media.

Hayato takes a hit after confronting the three from earlier, who they inconveniently came across after returning home after the festival.

The two “panty shots” above are anime original as well.

The anime gave a bit of a bonus with the ass crease and vaginal bones. This was a lot more than I’d have expected from a show like this.

All the physical activity of the day has Ami feeling almost too fatigued to put up the rest of the fight, but she’s able to pull out the win in the end.

I went back and forth on whether to have this stitch or not, but I decided that in the end, the cast list doesn’t obscure the erotic bits so why not. I may be able to edit the text out but it would probably take me a long time. Anyone good enough to do that quickly and skillfully is probably also good enough to charge a decent bit of money to do it.

Ouka’s blushing face indicates her growing attraction towards Hayato, a development that no one saw coming. The post episode credits have this image of Akane, so perhaps she’s getting the spotlight next episode.

For some reason, the anime skipped Chapter 8, which at a glance seemed to mostly be relationship development between Ouka and Hayato. No fanservice potential there, so not much was missed. Tezuka’s production from a few years ago, Kanojo Mo Kanojo, also skipped around chapters and added them later, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see the same done here, and for this case to not be the last time this happens. With this episode, we are through Chapter 11. I have yet to look ahead to see if there’s a sort of fanservice mecca in the future, but I might check it out later and let you all know when I do.
