Megami no Cafe Terrace Episode 05 Fanservice Review

Dearth

We have the driest episode yet for service, so hopefully they’re saving the best for later on.

Riho here arrives to help the cafe when business is more busy than expected. You might think it’s lame that I included such a mild webm in this post, but sometimes I am forced to take the best of the rest.

As was mentioned in a previous review post, for some reason Chapter 8 was removed (I believe last week’s, episode 4). Seeing this episode and remembering what happened last week, I think it was done to improve the flow of both episodes. Including this segment in last episode would have been a bit awkward. Also, I mistakenly said that chapter featured Ouka, but it was actually Riho. Anyway, we get a bit of a backstory on Riho, who says she wants to help this cafe in any way she can because it “saved” her. There seems to be a bit of an implication here that Riho doesn’t have the best relationship with her mother, or some kind of female authority figure, but it isn’t expanded upon, at least not yet.

The anime provides us a bit of a bonus with these shots. As you can see above, the manga has a pure opaque shot of Riho, whereas the anime gives us a shot of her nude (though with no sensitive anatomy), also, only with a bit of editing gives us a better look. Even then, it’s not the best shot – there are no pubic bones drawn if you look closely.

Unfortunately, Riho’s ass seems much more shapely and detailed in the manga. The cleavage shot is a lot nicer in the anime though.

Riho’s thoughtful staring and internal pondering should make her thoughts obvious at a glance. I’m surprised at this, because Ouka appears to be the “main girl” of the series so far, but it was technically Riho who seems to have developed an attraction for Hayato first. After seeing the first two episodes, I’d have pegged Riho to be the last to have done so.

Tough call on this one. I do like Akane’s face much more in the manga, but the anime obviously shows a lot more skin, including a much better shot of her ass.

The two above are about it for “stitches” in this scene, and as you can see for the one on the bottom, it’s halfway done. This is because the amount of late movement from Akane makes it impossible. Normally I’d just scrap it and not include it in the review at all, but I’m a big fan of girls in plain shirts with nicely shaped tits like you see above with Akane, so I couldn’t help it. It would also be great if the light weren’t so blinding. Also, she’s clearly holding her pick wrong.

This entire scene had great potential for stitches, but unfortunately none of them could be realized. They clearly put quite a bit of effort into some of these given the amount of unique frames on Akane, so that’s a shame. For the story, not much to say. Hayato overhears some people talk about “Akane-san” in reference to the growing number of female guitarists, so he decides to check out a concert they were discussing, presumably featuring Akane.

Despite having performed in front of a large crowd, Akane is embarrassed that Hayato listened to a live performance of hers. There’s also more talk between the two, one that has Hayato encourage Akane on her dream to make music for a living.

This segment of the episode features the girls having a day off, and discussing a variety of topics. Most importantly to the series (and this website) the topic of Hayato comes up. We get a few shots of the service that we’ve already seen up to this point which I won’t bother to post again.

The last part of the episode has Ami get excited and accidentally headbutt Hayato. Out of fear and a desire to placate him, she offers him another groping.

The end of this episode brings us to the end of Chapter 13. This was definitely the slowest episode yet in just about every way. There’s nothing wrong with having an episode like this, though. A setup episode like this can make following episodes even better. Whether or not this anime will do it justice though cannot be determined just yet. But looking ahead, there’s at least a few things to look forward to: Ami gets a “comeuppance” of sorts, and Akane gets a bath scene. Unless they shuffle things around again that should be happening within an episode or two.
