Everyone’s favorite cast of trouble-making demi-humans have at least one more dose of awkward boners to give us all. The post-series OVA will come bundled with the manga’s 11th volume on November 12th.
The OVA will be based on chapter 17: a short story about the girls heading to the gym (and the swimming pool) to lose weight. There is a changing scene, but nipples are not shown. Given that the anime was averse to taking liberties, there is a real chance the OVA could be non-nude.
That said, every Monster Musume chapter has a brief prologue that lasts a few pages. The prologue for chapter 17 shows Miia, Merone, and Centoria changing into new bras, and having various mishaps (see illustration above). This leads them to the conclusion that they need to head to the gym to lose weight, hence chapter 17.
If this prologue is included in the OVA, and I’m inclined to think it will be, then we’ll have some nudity to look forward too. But if not, it could end up being a non-nude episode.
The timing of the OVA is a bit interesting. Normally shows like to release their OVA right around the time the blu-rays finish releasing, often bundling with a manga release that most approximately releases to that time. As it turns out, volume 9 of Monster Musume just came out today, which would have made today the perfect time to release the OVA since the last volume of the TV series comes out later this week.
But to release it at the end of the year, nine months after the release of the last BD volume, strikes me as buying some time until a new season is ready for air. Of course, this is hardly a surprise if true, given that the TV series was a commercial success and the manga has sold well for many years now.
