Princess Lover! is based off an eroge of the same name and was the very first production by the Satelight breakoff group GoHands (Seitokai Yakuindomo, K, Coppelion, and most awesomely, Asa Made Jugyo Chu!).

For a first time effort the animation and art are very impressive by the standards of 2009, as was the ecchi-level. I have a lot of respect for GoHands, as they have the talent of a top company but are not afraid of being too sexy in their ecchi efforts.
The seiyuu cast has 3 notable male voice actors who have all been great in various mainstream anime, but the female cast is basically a bunch of no-names. One of the supporting characters (Erika the green haired girl) was voiced by Kaoru Mizuhara who would later voice Kagefusa in Manyuu Hikenchou. Megumi Toyoguchi, who plays Sylvia, always seems to get cast as “badass girl” type roles, such as Mouya from Ikkitousen Xtreme Xecutor. Even though they weren’t big names, I thought Seika and Charlotte’s voice actors (Emiri Katō and Ryoka Yuzuki) fit them perfectly.
As far as this video is concerned, it’s a bit of a mild change of pace from what I normally do. I sorted the non-nude and the nude fanservice into two groups, then used classical music to create a montage for the non-nude section. The leftover bits were used to create a brand new fanservice oriented opening.
Because the source video was so nice on this one, I ended up encoding it at an extra high CRF to ensure it stayed as high quality as possible. For that reason, the 1080p version is extra large, though the 720p version is not effected by this size increase.
Maybe I just have bad taste, but I actually enjoyed Princess Lover! as an anime up until the abduction plot line began. I sensed sparks- I think this could have been a legitimately good romantic anime had they opted to take that path instead of going for a generic action-drama route instead.
I really hope we don’t have to wait another 3 years for GoHands to helm another ecchi series. The art level in both Princess Lover! and Asa Made Jugyo Chu! was fantastic relative to their peers, and they know how to draw for nudity quite well too.
For those wondering… yes, I cheated and added the two instances of breast-clapping for Charlotte in the changing / bathing scene. I couldn’t help myself.
