The Fall 2014 season has already broken the nipple barrier… a week before the season has even begun.
The first episode of Ushinawareta Mirai o Motomete is set to air a week from now, but already there’s been some screens of the debut episode leaked on the interwebs.
I can’t say that nudity is a total shock here given that eroge adaptations usually know their demographic well enough to go for it. Still, it’s a relief knowing that at least one anime won’t miss the boat.
This is the first time since the summer of 2012 that studio feel. has done nudity (Boku H ), and the fourth time overall. It’s good to know they haven’t shunned nude anime after a 2+ year hiatus from the sub-genre.
It is also a little surprising that nipples would be shown on a TV broadcast these days. In recent times, ecchi anime have tended to get cute with R-rated content and tease it before unleashing it on blu-ray. Prior to this, only one other 2014 anime had shown nudity in the very first TV airing episode (Kenzen Robo Daimidaler ).
Before anyone gets too excited about this development, it’s worth remembering that Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete will feature CG style animation similar to Knights of Sidonia or Black Rock Shooter . And since the budget does not appear to be all that high, there’s a good chance this could end up being a bit of an ugly anime.
I personally loved the CG service in Shukufuku no Campanella , and I’ve seen some great hentai work with this kind of technology as well. I’m just not quite sold on it for a TV anime series.
I remember when computer animation was replacing hand drawn stuff fifteen years ago and it took about a decade for computer anime to really justify the move. I think it’s probably the same thing for CG anime. In 2025 it might look fantastic, but in 2014 it’s not yet ready for showtime. I guess for now we’ll just have to see how well studio feel. can pull this off. I doubt they are feeling too nervous about this project as previous CG anime have actually sold surprisingly well.
Nitpicks aside, I never take nudity for granted in anime these days and it’s great to know that the Fall season is getting started on the right foot for ecchi fans. I’m looking forward to watching the season debut and breaking it down. It airs on October 3rd.
