The initial cast and crew for Monster Musume have been announced, and it’s worth being optimistic about.
According to the upcoming June issue of Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Ryuu magazine, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou will be co-produced by production companies Lerche and Seven.
It will be directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who’s notable for directing the non-nude yet intensely ecchi mermaid-service anime Muromi-san , with script-writing handled by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who previously did series composition (writing) for OniAi , Kamen no Maid Guy , and Walkure Romanze .
Lerche has a bit of history with nude ecchi. They produced the Majikoi and Unbreakable Machine Doll anime, which both delivered quite well in terms of service.
Seven is best known for producing various mini-episode anime that run a few minutes per episode. They have yet to animate for nudity as far as I know, although they are currently working on the Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! anime which is an adaptation of a sexy nude-ecchi manga.
Among the casting announcements, the only significant one so far is Sora Amamiya as Miia (the Lamia-type who’s basically the main love-interest in the harem). Amamiya has done many main characters in the last year or so, including Akame from Akame ga Kill! , Elizabeth from Nanatsu no Taizai , Vers Allusia from Aldnoah.Zero (which was also directed by Yoshihara), and Touka from Tokyo Ghoul . She’s not experienced in ecchi, although she did do the voice for Hazuki Jin from Blade and Soul .
All things considered, this is about as good of news as could be hoped for (other than a best case scenario ala TNK or Xebec or Hoods Entertainment being involved). Lerche has gone above and beyond expectations for service in the past, and the selection of Yoshihara as director has a chance to be a stroke of genius. Yoshihara’s previous ecchi work, Muromi-san , was non-nude but drew comparisons to Manyuu Hikenchou for the way it drew boobs. Being a service-heavy anime about mermaids, it also featured half-human women in sexy situations.
There’s a striking similarity to the way Muromi-san (top images) did boobs, compared to Monster Musume (bottom images):
Just imagine how epic Muromi-san would have been with nipples. And since it looks so much like Monster Musume … which will almost certainly deliver… yeah, I’m pretty jazzed about this.
It’s probably a fool’s errand to judge an anime by its key visuals, but the initial character art for Monster Musume is impressive. Not only does it look about 95% the same as the manga’s original designs, but any differences are improvements. Here’s the manga:

There were also a few interesting tweets from the AnimeJapan2015 event, which had a peak in window for a certain character, right next to a grope-able set of breasts belonging to Miia.
So yeah, this anime is going to be pervy as fuck. Can’t wait. Now if only they can find a way to, you know, make the whole demi-human eroticism feel just a little less weird.
Hopefully we’ll also be hearing further details like these for Prison School sometime soon.

Off topic: The Ranma project is hitting the home stretch and will hopefully be done in the next couple weeks. One thing I am missing though is an ENGLISH DUBBED audio version of the 2010 OVA called Ranma 1/2: Akumu! Shunmin Kou (aka Nightmare! The Incense of Spring Sleep ).
I have the english audio for all other Ranma 1/2 episodes and was planning on a dual audio release. I’ve checked like five different versions of the Akumu OVA but only found one version of it English dubbed, but couldn’t actually get the file since the torrent has been dead for years.
If anyone knows of a working link to the english dubbed version of that specific episode, or they can link a streamed version of it I can rip (youtube, dailymotion, etc), please let me know. If you own the dubbed version on BD or DVD and are willing to rip the audio and send it to me, please email me at [email protected]. The dubbed audio for that specific episode is all I need.
