Ibuseki Yoruni – Fanservice Review

Sex and politics. Sex is great. Politics not so great. If you have to vote for both or none. what do you do? Become a monk?

Ibuseki Yoruni is an anime short (#22) at the 2015 Japan Animator Expo. It’s shorter than most. The video is nine and a half minutes long but the actual running time is closer to six minutes.

Unfortunately for me, the subject content is about politics. One of my least favorite topics of conversation. Politics bore me. Immensely. To tears. So much so that I tend to respond with jokes about politicians and lawyers when the conversation shifts to politics. Here’s one:

Question: Why don’t sharks bite politicians?

Answer: Professional courtesy

Wikipedia to the rescue in case you don’t get the joke right away. TL;DR version is that sharks don’t bite politicians because politicians are sharks too. Including the woman who is the main character of this anime short. Keep that in mind as you read this review.

Anyway, on to the review. One of the main themes seems to be that sex and politics is part of dirty politics. Which is good for ecchi fans because it leads to a number of ecchi scenes.

The one and only stitch I made. Sexy? Scary? Both? Doesn’t she look just like a shark having sex???

The girl playing a violin scene was neat. Short but sweet.

This scene from the ED was visually poignant. They seemed to be going for feels here…

Official Art

The only official art I could find so far was on the Ibuseki Yoruni official page. But there’s only a small sampling of ecchi and sexy artwork. One piece is not only nude but has public hair which I don’t recall seeing in the anime. What a shame.

Overall

Overall I would vote for sex but not for politics. If I wasn’t given a choice, maybe I would look for an order of sexually enlightened monks?

Can’t talk much about the politics content. My eyes glazed over. Not once but twice. The gist of it seems to be revolution, betrayal, dirty politics, sex and politics, common people getting screwed and family tragedy. More or less. I guess. Whatever. If your eyes didn’t glaze over, feel free to add more in the comments.

As far as the sex content, while it was nice to have a decent amount of nudity and it was nice to have a grown woman getting naked and doing the business … BUT … she’s still a shark and it was like watching sharks having sex. Not all that sexy IMO. More like down and dirty. Probably intentionally. Still edgy and dark sex is better than no nudity at all.

On the other hand, I did like the character designs and artwork. It was well suited for this anime short.
