Bikini Warriors first PV released

A first look at Hobby Japan’s latest offering.

The production values look decent, roughly on the same tier as Triage X.  I’d chalk that up as a pleasant surprise.

Of course, for those who haven’t heard yet, Bikini Warriors will feature brief episodes, each one only 5 minutes in length.  It is hardly the first series to go the mini-episode route, there have been a many of them the past couple years including the popular Hetalia – Axis Powers  series.

What is uncommon is for these kinds of series to show nipples.  As far as I’m aware, there’s only been one anime ever with a five minutes or less format to show nipples (Koi-ken!: Watashitachi Anime ni Nacchatta! ).  Furthermore, Bikini Warriors is listed on AT-X as having a censored ‘parent safe’ broadcast.

There’s also a very obvious ‘Dragon Quest’ motif to this anime, and that is driven home even more by the music in the PV.  I don’t think that makes Bikini Warriors a kid’s anime, but I do think mixing explicit eroticism and Dragon Quest elements seems a bit much.  But I’m not Japanese, so what do I know.

Produced by feel., it’s hard to get a read on just how ecchi this series will be.  This is a company that only does nudity rarely, though when they do, it can be minor or it can be incredibly extreme.

While there are many indicators that suggest non-nudity in this series, keep in mind that this entire anime is basically a TV commercial for erotic figurines that can be undressed to show nipples, just like Queen’s Blade and Samurai Girls.  Past history tells us that anime made for the expressed intention to sell ero figurines pretty much always show the goods when it’s all said and done.  If this series does end up non-nude on BD, it will be the very first Hobby Japan anime production to not show nipples.

This is clearly the ‘wildcard’ series of the Summer season.  Darkness will obviously deliver, Monmusume is very likely to deliver, Prison School is very unlikely to deliver.  Bikini Warriors feels like a fifty-fifty shot.
