Sadly, the Dailymotion streams are no more. Plus, other stuff you need to know.
I kind of always expected my dailymotion account was living on borrowed time, and today it was made official. Truthfully it bothers me very little, though I’m sure this will be a big deal to those who preferred streaming video.
In a way the ban is almost a blessing, I had to spend a lot of time preparing videos for upload to their stream and re-encoding, re-upping, and re-checking older entries. It was my 2nd least favorite aspect of running this site. I don’t miss it at all.
The very least favorite thing is having to deal with technical issues. And unfortunately those have been coming to a head recently as well.
As many of you have noticed, this site has suffered from database connection errors the last few months, and it’s gotten increasingly bad over time as a result of higher traffic. To you guys, it’s only a minor annoyance, refresh here and there and all is well. But to content creators it’s a huge problem as it makes uploading images or saving posts extremely problematic.
This is an issue I’ve been working on the last few days, and though I suspect the solution is probably a simple one, it could require weeks of contact with my server tech support before the exact cause of the issues is determined. It might also require a site optimization that could take the site down for days or even weeks. So if the site is completely down one day you should assume it’s being repaired.
If it comes to serious measures, I’ll probably move content back to the blogger version on a temporary basis until the site is fixed. So keep that place in mind in case this site goes down. I might also post site updates on twitter if the site is taken down for repairs.
As far as streamed video goes, there is still some that remains on the site, for example Seikon no Qwaser. The next video I’m releasing will have streamed video, but after that it will be download only for a time.
Google Drive is an option, but a faulty one and it’s not free either. After I get a donation page setup and pay some bills, I will seriously consider upgrading my google drive account (which costs money) and re-upping streamed video, but this won’t happen for a while.
And it will probably have to be self-hosted videos in some way. My videos are too porny for Dailymotion, but apparently not porny enough for most hentai pornsites. My videos get taken down everywhere I’ve tried. Kind of stuck in no man’s land.
Until then, the download links are working and you can still watch the videos after downloading them. And as far as the connection problems, know that they are being worked on and don’t be shocked if there is significant site down time in the future, though hopefully it will not come to that.
