Twenty sixteen wasn’t exactly the best year ever for ecchi fans, but at least it goes out on a relatively high note with a solid list of ecchi anime releases, including the first of the Fall season shows.

One of the best things about this series is the consistency it delivers. Any time a To Love-Ru OVA comes out, you just know it will deliver, and the latest installment was no different.
Bikini Warriors OVA

It’s as if 2015 just wanted to pop in to remind us all how utterly superior of a year it was to the present one. Bikini Warriors was an afterthought in an epic Summer 2015 season, but its OVA is arguably the best ecchi showcase of the entire year that followed. Thank you Hobby Japan, for keeping hope alive.
Keijo!!!!!! vol.02

Okay, so a couple of infrared nipples isn’t quite what I had in mind for this series, but at least it shows a willingness to go there, even if on a minimal level. In a year of disappointing series, Keijo!!!!! is the current leader in the clubhouse for the biggest disappointment of them all.
The manga is currently at twelve volumes, and the anime has drawn from much of that material, jumping around as it feels necessary. But whereas Triage X jumped around to make sure they covered most of the big nude scenes, Keijo seems to be jumping around as if to spite the nude scenes. What’s up with that Xebec?
Now maybe, maybe, they felt the specials could be a separate container for the changing scenes, wardrobe malfunctions etc. Other shows have sort of done that. Shinmai Maou no Testament often deleted big ecchi scenes from the novels during the TV run but included them on BD. Hopefully that is what is happening here.

Oh my, is that Reiri on the cover this time? The last two specials were pretty tame, hopefully the rest of the specials from here on out can seize the intensity of the novels.
Strike the Blood II vol.02

Now being dubbed as Strike the Blood second season, this 8 episode OVA series kicked off late last month (blu-ray review coming soon) and continues through April of next year. Both last month’s release and the OVA from last year had nude scenes, hopefully the tradition continues.
Berserk vol.02

No news is good news, that is unless you are hoping for nipples in anime. Volume one of Berserk released last month and nary a whisper of its contents. I guess the fact that it was a critical and commercial failure probably contributes to the lack of coverage. The series has some rather massive nudity potential, though that may not be a good thing for everyone.
Okusama ga Seito Kaichou!+! vol.01

I don’t remember there being any blu-ray changes of significance when season one released last year, and I wouldn’t expect any here. There will be two volumes, with the latter coming out on January 27th.
Side note: Brave Witches is getting a very late start for whatever reason. Volume one will release on February 24th.
