The original conception of this series is credited to Ares02.
There are many anime that come out each season, so much that unless you’re an absolute fanatic with a lot of free time you probably aren’t going to watch them all. And although the days of bountiful ecchi appear to be behind us, many series still are not shy to blatant fanservice shots (though much more subdued). Making things more confusing is some dedicated ecchi series failing to deliver, or production standards being subpar, while other series that are not dedicated to fanservice giving more attention and detail to fanservice than anyone could have possibly anticipated. Naturally, some things will slip through the cracks and not make it onto the site for whatever reason.
The Ecchi Miscellanea series aims to correct this: to cover series that were not picked up for a full review, usually because they were perceived as not having enough fanservice to justify one. Mini reviews, essentially. I hope that this will be an acceptable alternative to full reviews.
Megami no Cafe Terrace! (Season 2) Episode’s 13&14:
We start off with Megami no Cafe Terrace in its second season. They started off with what I’d like to call a bang, had it not been for the additional return of the dreaded fog that plagued the first season. The girls look as good as ever though, and that’s one thing I don’t think anyone can really take away from this series – the design for almost every girl is fantastic. Some are a bit one-note, but I imagine that will change in time. I haven’t really looked ahead to see what this second season is all about, but it looks like we’ll get some new girls.
Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou Arui wa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (Season 2) Episode 01:
Given this is the second season and I’d just watched this to see the blonde, I couldn’t really tell what was going on. Although the sight of several nude women bathing and in towels means that doesn’t really matter. I went to check on the manga to see if this had any potential, but it seems it the manga ended. Not sure if it was axed, but the main source seems to be the Light Novel anyway. I guess we’ll see a lot more of this kind of soft-service throughout its second season, but I don’t expect this to happen every episode.
Mayonaka Punch Episode 01:
This one’s a bit of a wild card. I wouldn’t expect any nudity, but with only one volume of the manga released so far, and the Light Novel set to be released in a few days, who knows how this will go? The story is pretty exotic: something about a Youtuber named Masaki that got kicked out of her group and has her reputation ruined, meets a vampire (named Live) that wants her blood, but Masaki will give it only if Live can help her get a million subs on totally-not-Youtube.
Na Nare Hana Nare Episode 01:
This one seems to be anime only. The shower screencaps I saw caught my interest, but given this is about cheerleading, I can’t imagine my attention will last unless we get a bit more content like this.
Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san Episode’s 01 & 02:
This one made quite the splash, for all the right reasons. The first episode’s panty shot might honestly be one of the best we’ve seen in years, which is both sad and great. That shot could easily have been left out, but the production seemed to go out of their way to not only add it, but add some impressive detail and animation quality. The second episode also has an imouto-in-pajamas scene which has already seen a number of edits. The official twitter account for the series even posted a gif of the scene that I’m guessing was intended to be a template
As for the story, the title spells it all out. Alya is the titular heroine admired by the entire school for her beauty and exceptional academic standing, but as always (not a complaint), is interested in the painfully average and mediocre main character Kuse, the obvious self insert protagonist (also not a complaint). The gimmick here is that Alya speaks aloud embarrassing things in Russian (under the assumption no one can understand her), much of it being obvious indicators that she’s attracted to Kuse. Unknown to Alya, Kuse understands Russian because he watched a large number of Russian films with his grandfather. It is obvious that some point down the line, this will be revealed to Alya, probably the catalyst to the two beginning a relationship. If we’re lucky, we won’t be subjected to the KanoKari treatment and have this story stretched out another 200+ (and counting) chapters.
I normally crop these manga pages when I compare anime to manga, but I’m keeping these Roshidere pages to keep as much context as I can. You’ll come to see that the anime bumped up the lewdness and I’m all for it.
Another striking difference. Imouto in the manga wasn’t dressed in pajamas showing off her cleavage, nor did she mount him like a scene in an incest series where the sister claims she can’t hold back anymore.
Another blatant change. While Alya is plenty attractive in the above panels, she doesn’t drop down to Victoria’s Secret lingerie in the manga, where she seems to be wearing a sports bra. The anime seems almost too happy to show us all of Alya. I certainly hope that this continues throughout the production. Also, as per usual, her tits seem bigger in the anime.
That’s it for this edition of Ecchi Miscellanea. I don’t know how frequently I’ll post these, but I’d like to aim for one every 3 to 4 weeks. Also, if I missed anything let me know here or in the comments of other posts. If I deem something worthy of being included, I’ll do my best to add it in the next post. As stated at the beginning of this post, this series was originally made by another writer, Ares02. All credits go to him for the idea. If I forget to credit him in a future post, please let me know.
One last thing, here’s the tweet Roshidere’s account made regarding the imouto. They know exactly what they’re doing.
