Demons to some- Angels to others
With several ecchi and/or near ecchi series slated for this season, Futoku no Guild stands among them as perhaps the standout, but the content is not for everyone.
This one shot will say more than anything I ever could. If the idea of monsters touching/molesting girls isn’t your thing, this entire show will probably not appeal to you.
Our protagonist Kikuru wants to quit his job after experiencing a bit of a crisis- learning that a friend of his is getting married makes him realize he’s never been in a relationship himself. Enome, the guilt receptionist, recalls that a new girl has joined the guild and suggests that she and Kikuru quest together.
Kikuru and Hitamu, the girl’s name, exchange a bit of small talk before pursuing a nearby monster.
Hitamu’s honor as a martial artist compels her to adhere to the tradition of bowing before a battle, even in the presence of a monster. The slime takes this opportunity and “attacks,” and Kikuru is forced to remove the slime, but is initially reluctant as that requires putting his hands on some of her more sensitive areas.
Moving on from the slime battle, the duo comes across a Werelion. After they’re spotted, Hitamu offers to hold it off while Kikuru escapes, but she is quickly subdued as seen above. Hitamu’s innocence is also demonstrated via a conversation prior to this- it is recommended by Kikuru that Hitamu abandon her fighting style, which is purely one-on-one, in favor of traps and ambushes, to which Hitamu seems reluctant as it would be unfair.
I probably could have edited out one of these cards, but I really just didn’t want to. Nothing important is obscured here. Had any of the skin on her legs been covered, I may have done so. But anyway, this is Meidena, the new party member.
Meidena assumes Kikuru is simply out to seek women. Kikuru denies any attraction to her, prompting Meidena to lash out and strike him.
After the now trio leaves on a quest, a new and rather large chested blonde Esyne is introduced. I imagine it won’t be long before she becomes a member of the party.
Hitamu didn’t take Kikuru’s advice, and introduces herself again before a slime monster. Little surprise that she is subdued once more and put in a compromising position.
After some small talk between the girls, the group is ambushed by a Megaslime. Determined to redeem herself, Hitamu prepares a powerful strike. However, this move proves to be easily avoidable, as Hitamu is both highly limited in range and unable to move while in the stance to perform it. The Megaslime takes this opportunity to move past her and attack Meidena. Kikuru is able to save Meidena and is conveniently holding her in the bridal carry position – leading to an obvious bit with Meidena blushing before him.
A comedy bit concludes the episode, in which Kikuru implores Enome to raise the age requirement to join the guild to 18. This comes after being told that Meidena is 15.
I would normally speculate on the future content of this series, but I am entirely unfamiliar with the source so am unable. I’m not sure if I’ll do manga comparisons with this series because it is quite frankly not my kind of thing at all, but I might just suck it up and do it anyway. I figured I’d get away with one because of the lack of nudity in this episode. I suppose it is at least somewhat exciting to be left not knowing what is coming next, aside from knowing that girls will be molested by monsters.
