Once again, if you want nudity, the manga is your best option. You can check out Wizard’s most excellent Gate – Jietai Kare no Chi nite, Kaku Tatakeri manga fanservice compilation.

Anime
If you haven’t heard by now, the Gate anime is going to be a split cour and the second half doesn’t air until January 2016. The good news is that, hopefully some of the BDs should be released by then and we’ll know by then if there will be nudity in the anime or not.
Six more episodes. More of the same. Mostly action adventure and otaku pandering. They do seem to be racheting fanservice up just a bit. There are two almost nude bath scenes, one almost nude delusion scene, a sleeping scene with some nice cleavage and sexy teasing and as an added bonus, an episode full of maid scenes.
Episode 07
This episode deals with the aftermath of the Battle of Italica. There’s a bit where Boze is suppossed to offer her body as “compensation” for breaking the treaty by taking Itami captive and torturing. Which goes amusingly wrong, of course. But let’s be honest, episode 07 is all about maids, maids and more maids!
This episode is the beginning of the arc where the main fantasy girls adventure to Japan. Mostly action adventure, politics with otaku fun mixed in for good measure.
Just imagine being the ex of an otaku soldier and a doujin artist and then seeing these girls in your doorway…
Tuka looks great in anything regardless of the temperature. Even jeans. (Nice butt!) She should become a fashion model…

Episode 09
This episode continues the Tokyo adventure of the fantasy with some breaks for bathing and sleeping and Rory trying to seduce Itami. All in a day’s work…

This episode is the last day of the Tokyo adventure for the main fantasy girls. Where Rory goes into full battle mode and then Itami comes up with an escape plan only an otaku could think of…

What’s amazing is not Rory’s battle prowess or that she moves like the wind. No what is truly amazing, is that with all those acrobatic moves, Rory never shows her panties. Not even once. Well, maybe just a smidgen. We do know they are pink though…
Actually the most important part of the episode is that Rory discovers the magic of fishnet stockings on the Japan side of the Gate…
Back on the Empire side of the Gate. Time for some politics and to meet a new main fantasy girl for the next arc. Her name is Yao Ha Ducy. She’s a dark elf.

Best Girl
By request, my thoughts on best girl. To be considered, a girl had to appear in at least half of the episodes. Furthermore, she had to appear in at least one bath scene. Hey, why not use head shots from bath scenes if you can, right? Also, I added two key words that came to mind for each girl.
Looker + Childish
Tuka should be a model. She looks great in any outfit, even jeans.
Smart + Moe
The anime pushes moe for Lelei but I keep seeing brainy and hard working. Like a lot. But she’s so serious.
Personality + Deadly
Rory has personality in spades. Plus she’s deadly as hell. An army of one. Always keep your eye on Rory. Always.
Proud + Stern
Piña is a pretty darn good princess girl. And earnest too. Doesn’t hurt that I’m partial to red hair either.
So it’s beauty versus brains versus personality versus pride. That’s not a easy choice. I do like all the girls and am partial in some way to each one.
And the winner is…
In this case, I have to go with Rory. Even if she can be lethal. Rory has personality in spades, You can never take your eyes off Rory. So Rory is best girl even if I’m not normally a loli fan.
Prettiest Girl
With the criteria above, both Yao and Mari were not candidates for Best Girl. But I think they are better looking than the girls that were candidates.
I do like Yao Ro Dushia lot. Dark elves are hot. But she’s a sad elf, so I had to go with Mari.
Mature + Friendly
I’m partial to the mature, professional types. Often turn out to be school nurse types. Guess what? Mari Kurokawa is the medic (nurse) of Itami’s squad.
Fan Art
Fan art for the Gate anime seems to have really picked up since our last fanservice review. The show seems to be gaining popularity. Here’s a small sampling of fan art. With nipples (mostly) of course….
Overall
Overall, Gate anime is a well-made and entertaining show with a fun set of anime girls that look like a harem but don’t act like a harem. Once again, the staff has added small bits of fanservice that didn’t exist in the light novels or the manga. But like the first six episodes, Gate comes across as a mainstream anime not a niche anime. An anime which seems to be popular with the mainstream crowd as well.
Once again I’m pessimistic about nudity being added to the BDs. It’s possible based on A-1 Pictures past history and like Vividred Operation and Magi, it might only be a small amount. There are several opportunities in these six episodes for them to add nudity if they choose to do so.
Fortunately, official nudity is available via other mediums as well as unofficial nudity via fan art.
Hopefully some BDs will be released before the start of the second cour and we should know one way or the other if there will be nudity on the BDs.
