We’re baaack with fanservice reviews for Gate S2. Better late than never. Sorry about that but Gate reviews got delayed by low fanservice levels (after episode 13) and higher priority shows such as Galko-chan, Grimgar and Konosuba.
Episode 18
Lelei meets big sis and there seems to be bad blood in the air. Princess Pina is rotten to the core. And Sherry is adorable as usual…
Episode 19
The jealousy of Lelei’s big sister leads to a big catfight. Rory imitates a magical girl. The unplanned harem kicks into gear with Lelei claiming Itami and her are already married. I didn’t see that one coming. The harem or the marriage…
First almost nudity in a long while and it’s too “artistic” to count…

Episode 20
Princess Pina takes a bath in this episode. Really tame. Drats… She looks good though. Not to mention nice hands. Then the final story arc of Gate kicks into action in a big way with Sherry running and finagling for her life…
Episode 21
Princess Pina takes another bath. This one is better with some cleavage and side boob. The water is really murky though… Sherry makes her escape but that leads to the brink of war and some serious consequences for Princess Pina…

Overall
The bad news is a number of Gate BDs from have been released so far but none have had any nudity. Unfortunately, I called it in my earlier reviews. It’s A-1 Pictures after all. Not impossible, just improbable and only in small amounts (Magi and Vividred Operation).
So what happened to the fanservice in Gate S2? Long story short is that Gate has gone mainstream on us. And it seems to be successful as a mainstream anime so don’t expect them to feel any pressure to add nudity in the future. But you never know. The odds are not zero with A-1 Pictures.
Still I’m very much enjoying watching Gate again. It’s still a very good show with a very good set of anime girls and I’m still partial to military SF. I’m glad Gate is back for a second season. And it’s been a show that I’ve watched ASAP each and every week. Stayed tuned…
