This is good work by ARMS. The pacing is just right, and the story is more than enough to keep the audience engaged. Every episode that I watch, I immediately want to jump right into the next when it’s over.
The goal of this anime is interesting, not to mention unique and difficult. The story itself is based around tragedy, but at the same time there is a subtle message of enjoying life while you still can. And in this case, enjoying life seems to mean enjoying sexual situations. Talk about a difficult balance. Surprisingly this anime is managing to pull it off, at least so far.
In the early episodes this theme is pretty subtle, where most of the sexual content is worked right into the dramatic moments of the story directly and not much attention is drawn to it. Of course, that changes in a big way with the next episode, where fanservice takes over for about a minute or so.
It’s worth mentioning that this same theme was prevalent in the manga as well, which interjected a couple of random onsen scenes into just about every volume.
As far as this episode goes, there’s so much story being told so efficiently that there isn’t much room for cheesecake shots, though they did manage a decent butt shot and a minor wardrobe malfunction. Just enough to avoid undermining what has so far been a pretty good story. I respect that.
