That tail has got to go somewhere.

If there were twenty or so added scenes like what Testament did with each season, I wouldn’t mind if a few of them being non-nude to go the fetish route once in a while.  Unfortunately, HxH was a TV series that felt a bit lacking on direct nude scenes, in relation to comparable anime in recent years, and kind of needed the specials to carry the day.  Instead, we now have two out of three specials being non-nude, and that’s a bit of a bummer.

That said, I do like what they tried to do here.  Maybe you are the kind of guy for whom a round backside does nothing for you, and you could safely move on here.  But for the rest of us, I like how this scene had a way of feeling dirtier and had kind of a “forbidden fruit” type of vibe to it that was missing in the rest of the series.  In that way, it reminded me of Yuki’s pact scene from volume five of Testament season one.  It may not have been the sexiest scene ever, but it did something intangible that kept ass-men on the edge of their seats the whole time.

In the same way, it was kind of fun seeing Hayuru exploring her body and stepping out of her comfort zone, for our enjoyment.  It wasn’t bad, but I definitely hope this is the last non-nude special.  If anything, I’m kind of at the point now where I feel HxH has to blow us away with the remaining specials to not feel disappointed in this show as a service vehicle.  Not that it’s been bad, but it definitely feels like it should have been more.
