Oniichan wa Oshimai Episode’s 03 & 04 Fanservice Review

Next

We’re back with another batch of Onimai episodes. Here, we’re introduced to several new characters, one of which seems primed to become the main vehicle for fanservice. What we’ve got so far of her is pretty good, and I’m interested in seeing more of her and Mihari.

Also, you will notice the low quality of webm’s in this post. This is because gfycat is going through some trouble and may not survive much longer. An alternative to to gfy is being investigated and a solution is being worked on. Until then, each writer will have their own method of webm uploading. My method is to use giphy, but have the full quality webm’s available for download at the end of the post, just Ctrl-F “webm album” to find the link. It is the first time I’ve used mega to upload a link, so let me know if I managed to botch it, and I will fix it ASAP.

Episode 03:

The new girl is Kaede, and I imagine she’ll become the highlight of many episodes to come. She is Mihari’s classmate from middle school. Kaede doesn’t seem too perturbed having been intruded on, and is even fairly playful about it.

Kaede is a highly sociable and outgoing girl, a stark contrast to Mahiro who was almost certainly a NEET prior to Mihari’s forced sex change. Mahiro seems to appreciate being around Kaede, and finds her attitude relaxing.

Kaede provides more service while suggestively approaching Mahiro, asking if she’s ever “done it.” The implication here is sex, but it turns out this was a gag and Kaede was actually talking about makeup.

Mahiro sees the trailer to a movie and wants to see it, but is disgusted after being invited to go out in person to see it by Mihari. Mahiro is doubly disappointed after realizing Mihari invited Kaede as well, a trap to get Mahiro outside and socializing.

As you can see, Kaede was massively buffed in the anime adaptation. The blur in this stitch is unavoidable, unfortunately. I know it’s hard to tell with the poor quality webm, but there’s a strange blur through the middle, I guess just to help give the illusion of motion. The tits were spared, but at the price of both her navel and legs.

Mihari also seems to have been buffed – not just in the size of her tits, but the outfit looks a lot more appealing. Some anime reduce the complexity of character designs and outfits from the manga to save time and money. It’s interesting to see anime like Onimai that do it the other way around, and instead increase complexity (and in this case service as well), when they had no reason to do so.

I find these two ass shots strange. I like Mihari’s, but not Kaede’s.

Loli is a body type, not an age. Even then, it’s impossible to truly define. I know some that would not call Mahiro in the above manga panel a loli because of the curves, but ultimately, it is up to you to decide. I do find it interesting that the anime goes out of its way to eliminate any visible curves on Mahiro, while increasing the curviness of both Mihari and Kaede.

Past the swimsuit wearing, the main service of the episode goes with it. That is, unless you consider Mahiro pissing himself service. I do not, personally, and that is why I did not include it. Some eroge I play have waterworks scenes which I’m not a fan of, but given their prevalence it’s hard to conclude it is not at least a niche fetish.

Episode 04:

This is definitely the weakest episode so far for service, but you can’t have a home run every episode.

A magical girl transformation, but because this isn’t Cutie Honey, we don’t get to see too much.

Mahiro goes out into the outside world again and encounters a girl Momiji, (initially thought to be a boy) that Mahiro ends up having mixed feelings for.

Momiji also turns out to be the younger sister of Kaede that she mentioned in the previous episode. After a gaffe involving the discovery of Mahiro’s impressive ero-doujin collection, both Mahiro and Momiji are caught in an embarrassing position. This is played up for all its comedic value.

Webm Album

With the reviews now past episode 4, I doubt we’re getting to any significant landmarks in the manga, if those even exist. I feel like reading ahead to see what’s next in store, and to see if it will continue to be a standard gag comedy through and through. I have little doubt it will change, but it will give me some insight as to what’s coming, and I do find the series at least charming enough to give it a skim.
