One just one single image in a thought bubble is all the service you get for the final episode. Plenty to say but will wait till the end. Let’s just get this over with.
The cicada mole appears and everyone runs while guild members get ready to fight it. Meanwhile Peter and Misslim are working on fixing his sword. Also like expected last week they skipped some nude moments they could had put in for Misslim. Of course they would. You think this shit is an ecchi? I thought they would had at least kept those due to how little content they would have this episode but no they seriously wanted this to be even emptier.
Luvellia goes to protect her father as Lisa and Mimi tell her to let them handle it as they go to attack the cicada but have their attacks blocked. Vegan and Fulltalia try magic as well to no effect. Eventually the guild master asks for his sword so he can try.
Piglette then notices Peter has gotten there who runs up the arm of the cicada and notes how only orichalcum can hurt it as he kills it in one attack using the fixed sword.
After everyone cheers, the guild master questions Peter on why the sword was changed to an axe. Knowing he can’t tell everyone it was the only way to repair it he uses the same excuse that Luvellia did previously about how the deal between the guild and dwarfs should be changed. Peter says he had the sword changed to an axe in order to demonstrate the talent the dwarfs have and how the guild and dwarfs should work in mutual benefit together with dwarfs providing strong equipment using their skills and the guild protects them for it instead of just taking everything like they do currently. Everyone agrees with peter and cheers as Misslim’s dad is happy that she was able to finally make a weapon.
Misslim then reminds Peter to keep up his end of the deal as her father goes to talk to him.
As the guild master is preparing to leave the town, Luvellia tells him she plans on going with Peter on a trip using the tickets she got. He gets pissed and slices the tickets up and tells her they are going home. She then finally fights back and tells him that if he wont let her spend time with Peter she will run away from home.
While Misslim is gathering her things to leave, Peter is worrying about how he is going to have the other giirls pissed he has another girl for them to compete with and how things are going to be even harder. He then thinks on how Misslim apparently told her father everything and he thinks Peter agreed to marry Misslim now and is going to end things with Luvellia. He also threatens Peter telling him he certainly wasn’t lying and will not had touched his daughter if he wasn’t serious about being with her in order to honor the guild and dwarfs agreement as Peter panics at his situation now and ponders if he should just run away with Luvellia.
Peter then sees Luvellia show up on a horse being chased by other guild members. She grabs Peter and tells him that she is running away from her father since she got tired of him not letting her be with Peter and asks him to go with her. He agrees as the two of them run off leaving the others behind as the show ends.
Really long rant incoming as it is the final post and all my final show posts are long. So press the cutscene skip button if you don’t want to read it.
So before I rant about the issues with shows like this in a post IR world I’ll instead focus on this show specifically first. In terms of good things there is only one and that is the fact that we got nudity in something in which the source is non nude. This is a positive and what other adaptions should always aim to do. But the positives end there. I’m in favor of changing things from the source material if it results in better or more service and initially that is what it seemed they were going for but turns out episode 1 was a red herring and in reality we would see completely asinine changes. We had instances of service cut out and changes that made no sense at all like rearranging some things. What was the point of switching the dwarf and elf arc? This ended up cutting out most of Misslim’s screen time since in the manga she is present during the elf arc and even the hot springs part. At first I figured they changed it with plans to go all out on the Misslim scene to end on a high note but no they fucked that up so why do this? It wasn’t because it had a better place to end the show either as the ending we got is actually something from a few chapters later and has no ties to either arc so they very well could had still had this same ending while going in proper order.
Introducing Fulltalia earlier didn’t even cause her to take the place of Misslim’s screen time either as she had only a handful of seconds shown after the elf arc. So you can’t even say they did the change to give her more screen time instead. Hell they even forgot about Lucy. They expanded her by giving her an arc not in the mange but then completely forgot about her. In the manga she just vanishes after her chapter but at least has a throw away line of Peter saying she went home. But in this the last time we saw her was when she was sleep walking and they ran to the hotspring. Why bother expanding her if you were just going to drop it with no closure. I kept expecting her to appear again in this episode. It’s like they forgot what changes they did from the manga and sometimes tried to follow it and other times didn’t with no reason for it. Then there is the fact that all the new characters essentially are backgrounds after their arc. Actually this applies to everyone here. All the characters turn into boring background characters that might as well be npcs at this point. Gobuko is pretty much gone except for random lines thrown randomly after her arc and Fulltalia only had like one speaking scene after her arc. And even with the cast from season 1 you just don’t give a shit anymore. Everyone is so bland and boring. And the 12 minute show length isn’t an excuse. Even something like bikini warriors or even 7 virtues which were 5 minute episodes still managed to give their characters defining personalities but here everyone just feels generic and blank.
Meanwhile the most important thing being the service is essentially treated as a joke. In fact I can’t even really classify this as an ecchi. It is more like a comedy with nudity. None of the nudity feels sexual in nature or meant to be jerked off to. Sure people can jerk off to anything so I’m sure someone will claim they did but that doesn’t change the fact it was clear that wasn’t what the show was going for. This whole thing feels like an R rated sitcom that normies would watch. The nudity in this is so bland and delivered in such an unarousing way it feels no different from a brain dead npc R rated comedy movie that has nudity in it. Even the plot doesn’t really fit an ecchi theme but a comedy one. I feel like a show like this would actually have better reception with the non ecchi crowd the most as the nudity in this is delivered in a way that wouldn’t offend the pussies that think sexuality is the worst thing in the world. And of course the sex is treated as a joke in this show as well by having it all off screen and played for laughs. Overall this doesn’t deliver any content that truly feels fanservice like compared to comedy like. And that brings me to the next issue.
Shows like this are relics of the past and the only way this would had been even remotely watchable is if it had came out 10+ years ago. There is little place for tame shit like this today. A common thing I have seen is people all mention season 1 was better and that was true season 1 was better but why is that? I have an idea and it has to do with when it was released. Season 1 came out mid 2020 this was just a few month after Ishuzoku Reviewers and before shows like Healer or even Isekai Harem. Times were changing and I as someone who doesn’t care for nudity only shows and need something more I fully approve of the change that was stirring. After Ishuzoku Reviewers we would then get Healer the following year and then Isekai Harem this year (Not counting WeH because power point slides are not anime and it’s entire staff should be gulaged for such a travesty). We finally have started to get shows with actual on screen sex present and even non ecchi focused shows did the same thing. Mushoku Tensei had more graphic sexual content than this did for example. Shows that consist of nudity only and no physical contact are dead on arrival as far as I see it and are instantly obsolete. Adapt or die. In the face of those other 3 shows it makes Peter grill look like a children’s show. This is why season 2 is trash. Besides it’s other issues it’s because people have now started to accept the need for actual physical contact in shows mainly through sex but anything is better than simply generic nudity. Guild for example has no sex in the anime and still blows this out of the water with content because it still has stuff happening to the characters that is sexual in nature. Shows like Peter Grill the types of shows that have nudity and nothing done with that nudity are no longer worth it these days. It’s a step backwards whenever we get shows like this. As someone who has never cared for shows that consist of non sexual contact and just simple nudity I can say this is a completely valid change for audiences because of the problems with shows like this versus ones with sex.
Nudity has a very very short expiration date. It is essentially only usable once. Once a character has gotten nude that is it they are done. Their nudity won’t change the second time or third time. You have seen all there is to see. What changes is the impact it has on you. Once you have seen it any future times will be a decrease on impact to eventually the point you don’t even care. I noticed this really early on in Peter Grill. I eventually stopped noticing when the nudity happened because it became so soulless and overdone that it becomes something accepted as normal. If everyone walked around naked all the time you wouldn’t be turned on by nudity and that is what happens with these nude only shows. You eventually get desensitized to it. And on top of which as I said it doesn’t change you just keep getting the same stuff over and over. In the case of this show it was even worse since half the nudity is from characters we already saw nude before in season 1 so who cares. Meanwhile the new characters received just minor nudity at that. It’s bad enough that nude only shows are obsolete but people in charge don’t even make an effort to try and make these nude only shows work to a degree. If all you have to offer is nudity then you better find a way to keep people watching after seeing said nudity for a character. But this leads to a catch 22 that further showcases the flaws with nude only shows. You need to have new nudity each episode in order to keep things fresh but in order to do that you need a large cast. But if you have a large cast of females then their screen time is cut down leading to viewers having no attachment to them so when they do get nude no one cares. Meanwhile a small cast won’t be able to deliver compelling nudity for 12 episodes. In short you are pretty much in a losing situation with nude only shows as your main service is something that only works once yet you need to keep things up for a significant amount of time.
Meanwhile shows that consist of sex or even physical contact with the characters have a large enough bag of tricks to keep things going. Make no mistake though it is possible to fuck this up as well but requires actual effort to pull that off. As much as I like Healer it had the major flaw of having most the sex designated to the same two characters to the point it became tedious with this being even worse in isekai harem where most of the content was just one character. However this is more the result of incompetence rather than an issue with the concept itself. Unlike nudity there are multiple things you can do with sex even if it features the same small amount of characters. You can easily have the scene different enough by using different positions to give something new each episode even with a small cast. If you have just 3 girls or so forth you just need to give each of them scenes using different positions each time and you can easily turn 3 girls into 12 episodes of content. Ideally having a large enough cast is better but even when restricted to a smaller cast you can still do various things to stretch that out and give it a longer shelf life than simple nudity has. If it were up to me I would do stuff to ensure everyone was catered to and you would have more than enough content with that.
It’s mind blowing the sheer incompetence we get in this industry. Want to know how to make a sex ecchi show that keeps people watching each week for service and not piss people off by not getting what they want? Have a cast of maybe say 5 girls and have the show have at least one sex scene per episode though ideally two as you will have more than enough content to do that if you show even the slightest bit of competence. But in terms of content just simply go down a list. Each girl gets an individual scene focused on a different position each scene granting multiple different scenes for each girl. That is it. It is that simple. So scenes of Girl A:cowgirl, missionary, etc; Girl B:cowgirl, missionary, etc; Girl C:cowgirl, missionary, etc; Girl D:cowgirl, missionary, etc; Girl E:cowgirl, missionary, etc. Wow so fucking hard. That right there are 10 scenes which can easily be expanded by adding more positions or scenarios etc and gives more than enough content to create enough different scenes for 12 episodes worth that it keeps variety and everyone gets what they want. If you want a scene with a certain girl and want a certain position you eventually get it thus giving reason to keep watching and even after getting it you will probably have other things you want to see as well if not just to see the variety the show will provide. Nothing pisses me off more than VNs or ovas that don’t give the girl I want a scene I want especially when they then proceed to repeat the same scene they already gave said girl again later instead of changing things up. Variety is one of the most important things when it comes to stuff like this and yet it is neglected too often. Compare this to nude only shows that have content of Girl A gets nude, Girl B gets nude, Girl C gets nude, Girl D gets nude, Girl E gets nude. Proceed to loop that over and over. Less content than sex/physical contact shows and becomes repetitive really fast. It’s why I can’t even watch tame stuff like this anymore it’s content is too weak and gets stale too quick. Imagine going from watching something like the other three shows I mentioned and then something like this. The downgrade in service content will be extremely jarring and you instantly will know you are watching something inferior. We need more shows on the level of IR, Healer, etc not on the level of this nude only stuff.
But don’t take my word for it only. Simply look at the sales data to see what I said is backed up. IR sold in the upper 5000s (vol 1 was actually close to 6000), Healer sold in the 3000s, isekai harem sold in the high 6000s (actually is so close it very well could had topped 7000 after a second week), Hell even WeH despite being offensively bad still pulled numbers in the 4000s. These numbers are insane for ecchi shows these days and beat even a decent amount of the normie anime sales we see every season with only the major mainstream ones beating this stuff out. Isekai harem was even the 4th highest selling anime of summer or 2nd highest if you count only new shows. Even guild managed around 2666 as it’s sales data was just released. It’s clear what the audiences want yet this is falling not on deaf ears but deliberately plugged ones. Companies just aren’t listening. I have mentioned this before as well how in 2010 yosuga no sora sold around 7000 (9000 for sora’s bd as everyone wants to fuck their sister) and at the time I hoped this meant we would finally start getting vn adaptions with on screen sex at last which is what set yns apart from others and yet no. We continued to get more all ages tame shit. Sales are ignored. We are truly in clown world where stuff that sells bad gets a season 2 while high selling stuff does not. Peter Grill sold only around 200 for season 1 yet here we are with a season 2 while shows selling in the 1000s are ignored. It’s mind baffling to the point that you wonder if it is a japanese thing. In the west when a game or show comes out and is highly successful you then proceed to get 50+ knock off clones of the shit as everyone tries to get a piece of that pie. But japan seems to just ignore what works and not replicate it. IR caused such craziness at the time yet now nearly 3 years later and no one seems to be replicating it, why?
And that is the other thing it can’t be a japanese thing truly because the manga and LN industry doesn’t have this issue. LNs and manga especially featuring sex mainly on screen sex have increased largely in the past few years. They know what sells and everyone is doing it. Yet here we are with anime where sex is still treated as a rarity with us only finally starting to get stuff more frequent with it but it still ends up being only a once a year or so thing for the most part. The sheer amount of ecchi manga that features on screen sex is incredibly large as it should be. So much so that I personally refuse to even look at any nude only ecchi manga without sex anymore because fuck that “Look but don’t touch” shit. Why should I look at manga with only nudity when there is plenty of competition providing the full course of nudity and sex. Why can anime not adapt like the manga and LN industry has? While they saw the market for physical contact between characters the anime industry is still struggling to join the boat. Looking at next year so far we just have more nude only anime really on the horizon. Nothing that should be on the same ranks as IR, Healer, or isekai harem. Yet if this were manga you would have a constant flow of similar series.
Point is shows like Peter Grill and other nude only shows are going to continue to be a disappointment especially if you are someone like me who wants actual physical contact or intimacy between characters rather than just clothing mishaps or bath scenes. And now that a few shows have actually demonstrated balls willing to give what the market clearly wants that will make shows like this stick out even more with their inferiority. The only way I can see nude only series being acceptable now is if they have either one of two things apply to them. First if the series was established prior to this post IR era then it has enough fanbase to carry it. So if dxd were to come out with something new it would be fine as it has a fanbase already. Secondly if a new series comes out and it is by a creator that got famous during the pre IR era with nude only content they would likewise have a fanbase saving it. But completely new stuff that just ends up being nude only I can’t see much of a future in. Of course there are those that will for one reason or another want only nudity but that is not where the market is heading and are in the minority.
Sales show that sex and more hardcore content is now the trend not tame nudity only. Remember the new ikkitousen? You do remember that a new one came out this year right and not forgot as it was drowned out by better stuff? It sold under 1000 only around 890. While sex ecchi anime sells 4x+ more. Remember that dormitory show last year? The one with the main character living with a bunch of college girls. Sold only 1080 and volume 2 didn’t even rank to see it’s data. Another nude anime flop. The time of virgin nude anime is over and needs to be pushed aside for chad fuck the women anime. The sales of ecchi over the past few years show it. Nude ecchi shows don’t come close to what ecchi sex shows do. IR, Healer, WeH, Isekai harem, Guild, they are doing numbers that haven’t been seen with ecchi stuff in years. While shows still stuck in the past with service consisting only of nudity and no sexual contact and no physical intimacy are flopping. Ecchi anime needs to stop fucking around with this nude shit and join modern times like the manga and LN industry has and start producing shows where the service is physical and not look don’t touch. People don’t want to see a woman going “kyaa my top fell off” and 3 seconds of topless nudity. They want to see that woman getting fucked and moaning. No sex, No buy. More than enough sales evidence of this and yet this industry is dragging it’s feet. We need more IR, Healer, and Isekai Harems be made not this elementary school chicken shit of nudity with no visual intimacy. Peter grill failed on these fronts despite having an actual hentai studio work on it. We got a main character that fucked women sure but if we don’t see it then it doesn’t count. The sex was kept off screen and when the one time we could had gotten something they ruined it and turned it into the most pg rated trash possible. Fanservice is visual. People don’t jerk off to the knowledge someone fucked they jerk off to watching them fuck. Having it off screen eliminates it being ecchi because at that point this might as well be some normie sitcom that shows characters naked in bed after. All we can do now is hope more companies stop being stupid and see what is selling and why it is selling and give more of it. Otherwise we are going to be stuck with more disappointing shit like this.

Shit this now makes 3 weeks where the only content on this site was from me. Made worse the guy doing guild pretty much dropped it. I wish I had did it now as I would have all those posts done and bd posts at this point. At this point I might just not touch anything unless I know there is sex in it. Can’t stand this shit and I regret ever covering season 1 resulting in me having to cover season 2 in the first place but I had hopes for this back then. Nothing that is sexual in nature in the future either plus I’m tired of doing posts really. So who knows when I will have a new show to cover now. Maybe I’ll get lucky and Healer will get a season 2 soon.
