As you can see, Strike the Blood snuck a fast one by us. The top image was from the censored broadcast version, and you can see the nipple even there. Sneaky bastards.
This probably isn’t worth it’s own post, especially since it’s a blatant piggy-back off of Seventhstyle who broke the story. But I wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention on the off-chance they hadn’t seen it, and wanted to quickly mention two ways that this nudity event holds significance.
The first and most obvious is that it means there might possibly be more nudity in the remaining blu-ray releases. For those who don’t know, this image is taken from the first blu-ray volume- which hasn’t even hit store shelves yet (1/29/14). Remember the Walkure Romanze “leaked” nipple shot? This is a similar story.
Strike the Blood is a two cour series by the way. Its only half done airing it’s episodes on TV right now.
The second is aspect of significance here is that it marks the second time a Silver Link anime has broken the nipple barrier (OniAi is the other). Once might be a fluke. Twice is a trend. Silver Link has a harem/fanservice show starting this Winter 2014 season: Nourin. I’d say the odds of it being a show of interest just increased a little.
Oh, and for those keeping track, this is now the SIXTH Fall 2013 season series to show nipples. That has to be a record.
Now as far as the nipple shot above, it’s not great, and by itself it’s nothing of much use to me. However, I must express quite a bit of surprise that Strike the Blood went the nipple route on BD. The anime isn’t at all your typical nude ecchi type series, and there had only been a few eyebrow raising moments from the censors so far. The fanservice looked great, but I was pretty sure it would stay non-nude. I love pleasant surprises like this.
Off topic: As was just now mentioned in the comments, a heavy dose of censorship in ImoCho’s first episode means that series might end up delivering on BD after all.
