Overall Thoughts
So much happens in this episode that it seems hard to believe it’s all from just one chapter. We get a trip to the beach and resort, a villain of the week, some ecchi stuff both in the ocean and with sea cucumbers, an onsen scene, and then a little extra ecchi scene at the end. Two new characters are introduced as well, including a trap character.
It took a while for the service to get serious, but once it did there was a lot of future BD goodness. A fair amount of the likely future nudity is anime original too. All told, there’s roughly about a third more future nudity here than the corresponding manga material had. Project No.9 is certainly going above and beyond here.
The production values still look great, and though it happened in a gross way which I didn’t include in this review, we probably got a little preview of what our heroine’s nipples will look like on blu-ray courtesy of the trap character near the end of the episode.
Overall I’m pleased with this week’s episode. Despite only covering one chapter of the manga, the ecchi content felt like it was two chapters’ worth.
Sure, the show skipped over some material getting to this chapter, and it sounds like the next chapter (22) may get skipped next week as well, but it seems like the plan is for Jump Square to produce a lot of the skipped material in OVAs as speculated. We already know that this series is getting at least two OVAs, the first in November and now a second in March.
Next week’s episode will cover at least chapter 23, which is a heavily Kirara focused episode.
