While I was fairly skeptical of Hundred delivering nudity from the start, this series will still go down as one of the biggest disappointments of 2016. If you’ve seen the novel illustrations, you know that the novels are very ecchi, not quite in the same class as HxH but easily on par with many other novels turned nude anime such as Ladies versus Butlers or Seikoku no Dragonar.
If this same material had been animated by ARMS, Xebec, SILVER LINK, Asread or TNK, it probably would have delivered the goods.
It’s easy to forget since Production IMS did Testament last year and is currently airing HxH, but for most of their history they have specialized in blue-balling tease ecchi that fail commercially. Unfortunately, this was yet another such case.
I wouldn’t recommend this show, though I will say that if you sat through the whole thing, you got to enjoy a surprisingly competent ending, something you don’t see much of in today’s era of 12 episode anime seasons. This show wasn’t outright terrible, but it was too generic to hold up as a type A show. This was one of those kinds of shows that needed nudity to be worth watching.
