Isekai Shokudou TV Special Edition Fanservice Review Episode 01

Isekai girls need love (and food) too…

Special edition fanservice review.  Read all about it…

Plot synopsis from AniDB:

* Based on light novel series written by Inuzuka Junpei and illustrated by Enami Katsumi.

On the first basement floor of a building at a corner of a shopping district near an office area, there is a shop. It is the restaurant Youshoku no Nekoya (Western Cuisine Cat Restaurant), whose door is adorned with a picture of a cat. Founded five decades ago, it has since been filling the bellies of the salarymen from the office area.

While it is described as Western cuisine, it is an extraordinary restaurant with menus beyond Western cuisine that are rich and sumptuous. However, for people from that world, it is even more especially unique.

There is a secret in Nekoya. Every Saturday when the shop takes a day off, Nekoya is teeming full of special customers. With the jingling of the bell, it serves the rarest, most wonderous of delicious cuisine at the request of customers from all walks of life, upbringing, and ethnicity.

Certainly, for the office workers, it is a familiar place with familiar dishes. However, for the Saturday customers or people from that world, it is nothing but cuisine never seen or heard before … an Alternate-World Restaurant.

I would add nostalgia and grandfathers (of all things) to the list of tags.

It’s a special edition fanservice review of one episode.  It’s probably best to let the images and video clips speak for themselves without going into a lot of depth for an anime that may not be reviewed again.

Episode 01

Going with stitches (only) from episodes 02 – 04 for omake.

Episode 02 Stitches

Episode 03 Stitches

Episode 04 Stitches

Sadly for fans of fanservice, it now seems that episode 01 was a one-shot appetizer meant to hook viewers.  Heck, the Red Queen has not even made another appearance even though it seems it’s her magic that’s being used for the doors.  No more Red Queen would be sad and such wasted potential…

Isekai Shokudou seems to have settled on a formula of two new featured guests from the other world per episode.  Unfortunately, one of the featured guests is a dude which means not much eye candy for half the episode.  The featured girl usually look pretty good though.  Something about elf girls and half-elf girls that catches the eye…

Isekai Shokudou seems to be a combination of food porn plus iyashikei or “healing anime” with a sprinkling of nostalgia more than anything else.  But for food porn, Shokugeki no Souma is a better watch for ecchi fans.  The “foodgasms” alone were much better for service.  I do like character designs of the girls though.  Red Queen was sultry and the goat girl waitress was a cutie.

The visuals look good even with a drop-off after episode 01.  I had fun making stitches and webms plus I got to practice using GIMP.  It’s a shame this anime started off with a nice appetizer for ecchi fans but the main course turned out to be rather bland.  It’s possible but looking doubtful that there will be some nice desserts later on.
