The 13th tankobon of To Love-Ru Darkness will come bundled with the series’ sixth OVA.
This makes two tankobon releases in a row that will feature OVAs. The fifth OVA is set to release on December 4th as part of a bundle with the 12th volume.
The sixth OVA is most likely going to be released on April 4th, or something close to that. You can set your clock to To Love-Ru Darkness tank releases. Each of the last four releases were exactly four months apart, and the longest gap between any of the releases is only five and a half months.
As far as the content goes, it will likely be based on the bonus “bangaihen” chapters once again. I’m not sure which chapters are up this time. My guess would be 38.5, 40.5, and 42.5.
The To-Love Ru Darkness anime began airing two years ago almost to the day. It required five tankobon volumes for twelve episodes. By that same rate, ten volumes would be enough material for a second season. And as of December 4th, there will be twelve tankobon volumes in print, more than enough material for a second season to get underway.
Over a 16 month period (August 2012 to December 2013) the series released four OVAs, roughly one every four months.
Then they took a year off.
And now they appear to be back to releasing the OVAs every four months again.
I can’t help but think that this timing is completely deliberate, and that a new To Love-Ru Darkness TV anime is probably in Xebec’s plans for 2015.
I don’t see why they wouldn’t. There is zero doubt that To Love-Ru will sell, and sell big. Might as well milk it for all it’s worth.
