The world was at chaos and from this chaos comes a new species: Needless. Humans who have contracted a “disease” as humans may call them, and allow them to wield extraordinary powers.
[UPDATE1] By reader request, this post has been recovered and updated with new links. delmogeny may have retired a long time ago but his fanservice compilations still continue to be popular… Unfortunately, it was not possible to recover the old comments. And a big tip of the cap to @Shon for having saved this comp for posterity! It was a big help!! Thanks!!!
Based on an Ultra Jump Serialization that ran for nearly 10 Years: Needless an Action Manga by Kami Imai. Back in 2009 Madhouse loosely adapted the first couple arcs. Sadly some changes were made in order to eclipse the series at 26 Episodes with an Anime-Original Ending. Sadly this obviously means that much of the manga will never be adapted… Well in some way the Needless Specials loosely adapted some scenarios from a later arc. Most of the service comes from Eve and her particularly stripperific attire. Technically pretty much every scene Eve is in is “fanservice”. Also much of it is supplied by Setsuna, Kuchinashi, and Mio (the Simeon Girl Squadron).
As a matter of fact once the fight with the Trio ends and Saten and Aruka show up fanservice pretty much disappears for the last couple episodes. What little of service follows is a couple good closeups of Aruka. Eve fighting Saten and a couple pantsu shots. Then kicks in the fight with Arclight followed by a slow, boring, tedious Flashback Arc detailing key events before the series. And then it comes back when the Trio return and assist the Protagonists to take down Arclight. I say this a lot on my videos but seriously read the Manga if you can.
Changes in this Remake: The Original FC clocked in at around 20 Minutes and 54 Seconds, This new one stands at around 32 Minutes and 31 Seconds, Really just more time for great scenes that were cut in the original. And the big thing was better clipping with the Specials. A minor annoyance to note: For some reason at 1:12 a couple dead frames showed up during the scene in Episode 1 in which Eve uses her abilities to take on Aruka’s appearance.
