There’s nothing quite like the surprise of seeing a totally unexpected nude scene on a TBS broadcasted anime.
The funny thing is, this anime started off being 90% about fanservice and 10% about trains, but in recent episodes this ratio has effectively reversed. The fanservice in recent episodes was much more subtle in its presentation (by ecchi standards), and the story finally started to center around what the title of the anime suggests.
It’s only now when the service portion of the anime was on life support that Passione decides to surprise us with this amazing little moment. I know some where probably expecting this moment to occur during previous episodes during the “less censored” Crunchyroll version airings, but it actually happened on the TBS version.
By the way, I love how this same girl has blank boobs literally five seconds after the GIF above. If only Momo Sword Kyun would have a moment of honesty like this.
I’ll admit, after some initial optimism for this show I was starting to have doubts in recent weeks. This anime seemed too classy and too mainstream for nudity, and the way that the recent episodes had drifted away from emphasizing fanservice, I figured that might be a tell. What a cool way to find out that my skepticism was misplaced.
Now that we know this anime will have nudity, it should be fun to see how they handle some of those previous “almost nude” scenes from the Crunchyroll version when the blu-rays come out.
I’m pretty sure Argevollen will have BD nudity as well, but it’s nice getting official confirmation that the Summer 2014 season won’t be the first in over a decade to be without nudity in every single TV series.
The first volume of Rail Wars! is now a must see. Volume one hits store shelves on September 17th, though we’ll probably have to wait for volume two before these BDs get super interesting.
