Thoughts on the anime
I never watched the original series as I try to avoid cocktease ecchi. The sexier a non-nude ecchi show is, the more painful it is to watch. And Senran Kagura was damn sexy.
So I can’t really comment on the series or how this OVA fits into it. All I know is, this OVA relieved a lot of fanservice frustrations, even for me, so I can only imagine how it must have felt for longtime fans of the series.
Kudos to Hoods Entertainment for having the art quality at a reasonably high level and keeping the character designs mostly consistent with the previous entries in the series.
The fact that we got nudity at all from Senran Kagura is amazing. I like that Hoods Entertainment realized the special nature of this occasion and made some of the nude scenes a bit extra intense to make those scenes feel even more impactful.
Hopefully this is the turning of a new leaf for the franchise, and not just giving the fans what they want as a going away present.
Thoughts on the fanservice video
The material is very sexy, but goes by fairly fast which demands more repeats and stop-action than usual. At least for me, these kinds of videos end up being the best.
The ED was also very sexy, though sadly no NCED was included on the BD.
It’s been a good long while since I had this much fun making a compilation video.
Favorite Character
Hikage might be the hottest, especially in the previous iterations with her ripped up, unbuttoned jeans. Had this OVA put more of a focus on her shapely backside, I’d probably have picked her. But they didn’t, and though they did show Hikage’s funbags, I feel that I have to go with Homura instead. Tan lines are massively under-used in ecchi.
